Hidden on the waterfront in Marquette, is the Ellwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park, photographed here today by Danielle Mahoney. I say "hidden," because you can't see it from the downtown area easily and unless you're specifically heading there, you might drive right through Marquette and not even know it's there. Of course there are signs directing you there, so if you're paying attention, you'll find it quite easily and after looking at Danielle's photos, I'd say it's a must-stop for anyone wanting to enjoy a day at the waterfront. Especially this time of year.

The Lower Harbor Park in Marquette is a true gem. I love the remains of the old iron ore dock. Several years back they removed a good portion of the railroad leading to the dock in the water but did leave that structure. The tower clock in the park is also really unique. The park is hidden if you are in the downtown area. The trick if you have not been and are not familiar with it, is to just drop down to the lake level. It is truly a gorgeous waterfront park.

That blue boat at the back of the line looks very familiar to me. I
seem to remember seeing a boat just like it on the Houghton canal
just west of Hancock. Does anyone know anything about it?

I love the harbors in Marquette and Presque Isle. We go there often on the Wing.

I got on to the site but the Marquette Humane Society was not recognized as a shelter. I tried.

The Marquette humane society is in Negaunee. You have to give Negaunee as the location instead of Marquette.
