As usual, good pictures. The Ice on the Pines especially impressive. The Castle Rock pic reminds me of the time I went 2 the top of it (4 only 25c).

I have pictures of my wife standing at the top of the Picture Rock on our honey moon in September of 1952. May she rest in peace.

Good Morning pasty friends.
Today is day 5 without the cigarettes. Yipee.
This is a new way of life for me.Only have a few days under my belt and can already notice some of the changes.for instance food tastes amazing & smokers really do stink (sorry but true)
My husband and I celebrated our 17th wedding Anniversary yesterday. He bought me a bird bath and bench for my bird garden. I am on my way out now to watch the birds, drink my coffee and Thank
God for the strength to get me through another day. Have a super day!

Good going, Joanne! You can do it.

What a game yesterday! I'm a Wolverines fan, but will definitely cheer for the Spartans when the Wolves are not involved. My husband has his money on North Carolina, but I have to cheer for the Spartans and Tommy Izzo!! Go Green!!!

A blessed Palm Sunday to all!

It was great to see my old classmate, Tom Izzo, leading his team to a win and the Championship game! All Wildcats should be cheering the Spartans on to victory Monday night! (Nice to see Mooch there too)

Go Spartans! Win it all!!

By Ken Scheibach (Kscheibach) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 12:00 pm:

It was a great game on a great floor. A UP floor. A coach, team and floor we can all be proud of.

Joanne Sherrick (Shedoesnails):

Congratulations on five days of progress, and on your 17th anniversary as well!

You can't imagine the number of $20.00 bets my dad lost with his buddies while trying to quit smoking. (First one to light up paid up!)

Then dad had a heart attack (not necessarily related to smoking, but who knows) at age 49, and wound up in the hospital for two weeks. No smoking there, not to mention the oxygen tent and oxy bottles in the room. But that experience did provide some powerful motivation.

He then decided that if he could be without smoking for those two weeks, he could be without smoking altogether, and quit "cold turkey" right then and there, and never touched a cigarette again. He lived well into his eighties, but did suffer from emphysema in his later years. Smoking related? Who knows, probably so.

It all comes down to determination. You seem to be off to a great start in that department, without the heart attack/hospital experience for motivation. Keep up the good work!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 03:44 pm:

Keep up the good work Joanne, you can do it. Happy 17th anniversary, too.

I saw my mother struggle with trying to quit and she never was able to quit. Her lung cancer came back, she had COPD and emphysema and she still could not quit. I am saying all of this to say you can do it. Go out there and smell your flowers and the fresh smell after a rainfall. It sure will be different now. ;O) You know your coffee will even taste better.

All my life every person who came into the house as a kid- smoked. My mom smoked her cigarettes and my stepdad smoked a pipe my grandparents smoked, other family members smoked. They all smoked around us kids. The time I hated it the most was when we were all in the car going someplace. I never smoked and I found out I have emphysema (yuk!)

The people around you will appreciate it, too. keep up the good work.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 07:17 pm:

Mickill--You're preachin' to the choir when you talk about being cooped up in a car with parents who were smoking. OMG! I'm surprised we survived into adulthood ourselves. There is NOTHING good about smoking.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 07:39 pm:

Back in high school..a classmate, Kathy, died from smoking cigarettes, she was 18 yrs. old. Lung cancer does not care about the age of it's victim(s).

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 08:13 pm:

We are suppose to get snow tonight. Oh Well- that is Michigan for ya.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 08:29 pm:

Cindy--Growing up with my mom was fun, I just wished she could have quit smoking to be around today.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 09:45 pm:

Yet my aunt who never smoked a day in her life died of lung cancer in her prime. Could it have been second hand smoke? If you made it 5 day's you have that habit under control!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, April 6, 2009 - 05:10 am:

We got quite a bit of snow overmight. I do not have the t.v. on, so I do not know how much we have. It might not last that long though.
