A Very Merry Christmas Eve to You All from mid-Michigan! We are happy that the unseasonably warm temperatures, coupled with the rains and high winds of this weekend, were not enough to take away our white Christmas! We got a coating of new snow overnight, on top of the refrozen snow and ice. It might be a mess if you have to go out, but it is still pretty to look at.

By joanne sherick (Shedoesnails) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 08:21 am:

Thanks Marianne. a very merry christmas to you from Harrison mi.{mid-michigan}
and to all the pasty lovers a merry christmas to all and to all a good night.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 10:06 am:

Good morning everybody!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, isn't it? It's hard to believe it's upon us. Our Christmas spirit was down this year, but Ryan is home and well and that's all I wanted for Chrstmas.

May you all have a blessed Christmas and a very happy, healthy 2008.

I think we woke up to 4 degrees this morning. Just a bit chilly. Oh well, it puts you in the baking mood and it's time to go and back some thumbprint cookies. They're such a pain but so good. I wonder who'll get the gag gift this year. It's always fun waiting. Might be me because I haven't heard anything about it. HMMMMM!!!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 10:22 am:

Merry Christmas, Jarmo, and all my other pastycam friends! All last week's snow is gone, but we will be getting a fresh dusting just about every day for the next week. However, temps will be in the mid-thirties every day. Back to wrapping, but the computer beckoned me as I walked by. Now I'll have to get a Diet Coke, too. My family party is tonight and I'm ready for that except assembling the sandwiches (my famous ground bologna). Then at 11 p.m. we'll be at our Christmas Eve service, where my dtr. will sing O Holy Night. Tomorrow morning is Christmas breakfast at 10. Then everyone goes home, and we'll take it easy (read "nap") until I go see my mom again at about 6:30. A Merry Christmas to all!

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 10:23 am:

Thanks all of you for the greetings. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Eddy my brother Johns wife makes the pork pies for tonight and then again for Little Christmas next month. When we lived in Germany we had a retired doctor living in the same house as us. On St. Nickolas night I filled his shoes with candy and toys, it was the custom to let your shoes in the hall and not to take them into your rooms. He had tears in his eyes and would write to me each year reminding me of his affection for Precious and me. Oh why is youth wasted on the young, I sure could use some now.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 10:36 am:

Merry Christmas all. Tom and I are comfortable in our little home and will only go out for Christmas Eve communion tonight.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 11:28 am:

Merriest of Christmas Eve Greetings to all my Pasty.com friends, from Florida. I went to work today for a few hours and just got home. I will be watching my favorite movies all today and tomorrow and speaking on the phone with my family in Michigan and Ohio. Thanks for all the personal emails wishing me a joyous holiday. And Thanks Charlie and Mary for all the wonderful desktop pics that have graced my computer over the past few weeks. Marianne I hope your son is not too sore from his run in with the dear, and Deb may Ryan's recovery grace your family this holiday and remember God is watching over us, and gave us his only son. Merry Christmas Everyone.... and as Tiny Tim said.... God Bless Us, Everyone!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 01:25 pm:

Merry Christmas from Mishawaka, IN. We have very little snow left after the rain and wind of the weekend.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 02:44 pm:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from SE Texas.

Well, I got back from my Detroit trip yesterday amid a 3 hour plane flight highlighted by screaming babies. Oh well, that's why the Walkman was created; just crank up the volume and read your favorite book. My choices were George Strait and "The Mineral Deposits of Canada".

I must admit, this was a hard trip for my Uncle's funeral but it went ok and the service was very nice. I also got to do a lot while I was there. I took my cousins to the Chrysler Museum in Pontiac which, if any of you find yourself in the area, it is a must see. One of the other highlights of the trip was spending Saturday afternoon with a familiar face to the PastyCam, none other than Mikie himself. I don't think Mikie and I solved any of the world's problems, but we gave it a good try ;-)

By Snowman (Snowman) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 03:00 pm:

Frosty days and snow-filled nights,
Fir trees trimmed with tiny lights,
Sound of sleigh bells in the snow,
That was Christmas long ago.

Tykes on sleds and shouts of glee,
Icy window displaying the tree
Sugarplums and candles all aglow
Part of Christmas long ago.

Footsteps stealthy on the stair,
Sweet-voiced carols in the air,
Stockings hanging in a row,
Tell of Christmas long ago.

Starry nights so still and blue,
Good friends calling out to you,
Life, so fact, will always slow...
For dreams of Christmas long ago.

Merry Christmas.

By k j (Kathiscc) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 03:40 pm:

Thanks, Snowman. That will go into my Snowman poems file.
Merry Christmas.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 04:23 pm:

Capt. Paul, it was like being with someone I have known all my life. You sure are an easy guy to like. Was worried at first then the weather cleared up except for the wind. Merry Christmas everyone, off to the Ozanichs for the evening, lots of grandkids to be with.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 04:48 pm:

To all my friends on Pasty Cam, I would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Year.. Take Care, Be Safe and stay warm.

Hauskaa Joulua ja Onnellista Uutta Vuotta

Frohe Weihnachten Guten die Weihnachtsferien Einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr

We are having a beautiful day in San Jose. The sun is shining, no clouds in the sky, my orchids are still blooming outside. Can't get better than this for Christmas Eve. God is Good.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 04:55 pm:

Mikey, speaking of good German traditions, have you had Pfeffernusse (literally, pepper nut) Cookies? They can be an acquired taste, but I grew up with them. I have adjusted my German grandmother's recipe over the years, mainly to make them less like jawbreakers, since I am not much of a coffee drinker, since they were designed to be dipped in your coffee. :-) I love them, and I have taught my youngest son not only to love them, but also how to make them. He does a good job, too.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 06:27 pm:

Back to Toronto in time for New Year's Eve.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 09:40 pm:

Marsha, that's my favorite sandwich! I also enjoy sweet pickles ground up with the bologna!

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 11:31 pm:

Marsha, save Mimi and I one of those bologna sandwiches. When I was little, Mom would have me turn the crank on the meat grinder. I still love the makara sandwiches, MMmmm! Pytavay, we are going to make our first Christmas pasty tomorrow. Can hardly wait! Hei cousin Jarmo, "Jouluiloa!" to you ja Hannelle and the young ones. Amen on the 'wasted youth', Mikie.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 - 12:28 am:

Precious used to make pfeffernusse and other cookies when the kids were home but now she doesn't feel good enough to make anything. I have to do all the cooking and so far I haven't been doing any baking. Dan Belo my wife and her friend started a kids choir at out church and the service was beautiful. Love hearing the kids sing Silent Night.
