By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:29 am:

How did Marianne get put before me? Just a second ago she was 2nd??? Oh well, whatever! I love the picture of the truck in the lake.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:36 am:

Good morning!!

Did anyone manage up north to see the total lunar eclipse this morning??? It was quite a sight here, especially outside the big city where I'm at...

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:47 am:

It was gorgeous here in the panhandle too Capt. Paul. I watched the tail end of it as I drove to Fritch to work.

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:49 am:

Good morning! School started yesterday, but today I get to teach my favourite class-- Environmental Geology.

By Tom Karjala (Tom) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:51 am:

Will be in the CC in a matter of hours. Finally.
Seems I have to check on some bear bait with an old buddy. Should be fun.

I keep forgetting to mention that when my son drove back UP to Michigan Tech on Thursday last week, he made a point of calling me to tell me that the leaves UP there are already changing colors. He was near Michigamme when he called. He said that the yellows in particular were changing, but that the other colors were beginning to change, too. I don't know if this early color change is because of the dry weather, if or we are really having an early fall, or both. I have heard others mention that the weather has been fall-like for the last week or so, though.

Mary says: Stayed tuned for later this week, when we'll get a glimpse of some of the early color change!

Boy Deb I sure don't know how these early morning posts work! I finally gave up trying. I kept watch for over an hour but the new picture never came up. I'm not known for my patience. Some times I wonder what the heck is going on there. Guess I don't have the right connections hey? Any way every one have a good and fruitful day. Myself, I'm going on a riverboat for the afternoon. But not gambling just cruising and visit with friends. Hope it doesn't get too hot out. Expect near 90.

I caught a few glimpses of the eclipse this morning while I was
walking the dog. Hard to do between the buildings in a big city.
The moon looked copperish to me in color.

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 10:02 am:

Copper colored colored eh? Maybe it was a yooperlipse or maybe and eclipper.

By Sharon I. Smith (Sharons) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 11:20 am:

As usual when some sky event is scheduled, it was cloudy in Copper Harbor this morning. But I'm not complaining...we had half an inch of RAIN!!!! overnight! First measureable rain in months! It was wonderful.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 11:38 am:

Hello all, missed the eclipse. That truck reminds me of the time my brother in law got a bright idea to take his jeep through the pond and got stuck. The look on my mother in laws face was priceless when 2 years later she needed a tow home and the driver asked "isn't that where we towed the jeep out of the pond?" Gotta love the small towns!

I am editing a book on the life of George Gipp for the Gipp relatives from Chicago. I am trying to locate and make contact with the various Gipp family members in the U.P. and elsewhere, as well as locate any photographs of George Gipp from his Laurium/Calumet days and as a baseball, hockey or basketball player.

Have never seen so much controversy about the "Early Bird" before - these last few weeks have been something else about the topic. Not worth trying for anymore........bye

By James Ludos (Homesick) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 01:40 pm:

Can anyone put me in touch with Debbie Mueller? That is not her last name anymore but she was once married to Tom Mueller.

Thanks

By FJL (Langoman) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 03:39 pm:

Lot of huffing and puffing about the early bird. The green-eyed monster made another apperance this morning. Getting to see alot of him lately. Watching this contest about nothing is getting to be a lot of fun. Thank you..........

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 05:29 pm:

I wish my only achievement for the day was to grab the Early Bird! Not meant to be though.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 05:37 pm:

I forget who it is that had the stat's on who had the amount of all Early Bird's over two.Was three months ago, said they would be back in three more months.Don't give up trying eh! We all have a favorite we are rooting for.I have no idea but think it's a close race. One should not win by a landslide. Then the winner should retire from trying until his/her record is broken for another three months.Like any game I belive it is 3 fourths luck, and 1 quarter skill.I hope the deck is not stacked, and a fail-safe system is in place.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:56 pm:

We should be happy to see someone else receive the "Early Bird" now and then. That's only my opinion.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 09:50 pm:

But I will sing of your power,Yes,I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 11:16 pm:

Boy it looks like I've been told huh? Guess I better keep my opinions to myself. Bye-bye...

By Pennie (Trolldiva) on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 11:33 pm:

Guess if people want to see someone new win the early bird then they have to get up early. Some people just have good timing. The people that normally get the early bird dont stop anyone else from getting to their computers and getting the early bird for the day.
