Now before you jump to conclusions and think that someone is trying to run over this partridge in the tire tracks, that's not the case at all. This shot was sent in to me by George Beveridge and he said that this feathered friend of his hangs around their cordwood home. He even rides along with George when he's plowing snow, sitting right on the tailgate of the truck. I suppose he knows that after the work is done, he'll get a treat to eat!

Seeing that picture, reminded me of the day I was walking down our country dirt road and heard something running behind me. I turned around quickly and there was a partridge running after me, so I started running. After a few steps, reasoning set in, and I thought, "Why on earth am I running from a partridge?" At that, I stopped and shooed it away. I bet it had a nest close to the edge of the road and was protecting it from me!

Today is a special day here at Pasty Central. It's the 10th anniversary of the Daily Pasty Cam. That's a lot of pictures, even more words and innumerable friends we've made over the years! Thank you for inviting us into your homes each day! Here's to another ten years. Cheers!!

Happy Anniversary, pasty!!! I've got so many of these pictures for backgrounds it's not funny. And Mary's descriptions of them every day are great too. She makes them so enjoyable.

Mary, it's hilarious to picture you running down the road to get away from a partridge. I laughed out loud at that one.

Any other interesting stories about how you found Pasty Cam? I learned about it at the drive-thru window of my neighborhood McDonald's from Linda, who is now a good friend.

I think that everyone who visits daily, but rarely comments (like me) should all take a minute or two to add a comment today! C'mon everyone, you can do it!

Nice Ruffed Grouse! It's been too long since I've seen one.

You know, I can't remember how I found PastyCam. Probably I was searching for scenes from MI and stumbled across it! Didn't realize I was finding gold! :)

The first Ruffed Grouse I saw in GA was displaying in the middle of a highway in the northeast GA mountains. Later we heard them drumming when we were camping.

Congratulations! I too visit this site first thing in the morning. Always brings enjoyment. I first learned of this site from an article several years back that appeared in Newsweek and about your wonderful pasty makers! Have been hooked ever since. (Do you have pear trees too?)

Happy Anniversary Pasty Cam! This was the best thing I stumbled upon to keep up with all that goes on in the UP. Love the pictures and stories that goes with them. Hope to have you around another 10 years.

That partridge is having a fine dinner. We put up a new BIRD feeder at out house this weekend. Soon afterwards, the squirrels discovered it. It is in between two posts and they were scared to make the leap out onto the feeder, but finally one did it, hit it and fell off. He did knock a little food off the tray for a reward though. Soon, he tried again. This time he hit it, grabbed on for dear life and hung upside down for about 5 seconds. Then, the string holding it up BROKE and the whole thing crashed to the ground spilling about 2 pounds of seeds and nuts EVERYWHERE --- WHAT A REWARD !!! THe next day our deck was COVERED with tracks galore everywhere. Man, they had a feast. I just hung the feeder back up with a stronger string out further. We'll see if Mr. squirrel can jump this far !!!

Ten years! How did that happen while I haven't aged at
all! haha!

Someday it would be fun to have EVERYONE list the
town they live in. I think we would all be surprised at
how far and wide this site extends. As for me, I started
because Still Waters was my neighbor here in Calumet.

My grandfather had a partridge that would ride around the farm with him on the 4-wheeler in Osceola. It was the oddest thing but he loved it.

Congratulations on ten years of bringing us great pictures and discussions on Upper Peninsula life. I would bet there are no other sites comparable to this in the whole of U.S.A.

Congrats to Pasty Cam on being here for us for the last 10 years. I am living in Iowa now but I almost moved to Menominee Mich back in the seventies. Moved to Marinette Wis instead so I missed being a yooper by about 3 miles! Now I check this site every day to see what I missed.

Wow, 10 years already?! I just want to say thank you for all of your hard work keeping the site up and running. It's a great place to come when I'm missing 'home'.

I, for one, do not take the time to thank you all enough for all that you do for us! I love both forums, the beautiful pictures, Mary's comments, and all of the wonderful information and support that is shared among all. I love to keep on learning from all of you.

You provide a welcome window on Copper Country & the UP world. And, it is a welcome escape from the news of the day, especially when the outside news is not good. I have loved the Keweenaw since my husband & I made our first visit up there in 1980. My oldest son goes to Mich. Tech now, and my youngest son wants to (as much as a 9th grader plans).

I check MTU's web cams almost every day, at least once a day. I am pretty sure that I found Pasty.com from MTU's link to Pasty.com's Lift Bridge. I then explored the Lift Bridge link to see what all is here, and it is a whole lot.

Pasty Central has nearly been a daily stop for me on the information superhighway. I don't mean to rain on the parade but Mary's birthday count was off by one year. If you noticed my note last Sunday, I said:

"We hope to have the 'new and improved' Gallery hitting on all cylinders in time for the start of the 10th year of the Daily Pasty Cam, which arrives in a few days on March 1."

That's ok. I won't mind saying Happy Birthday again next year!
