Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 08:01 am:

The shortest month comes quickly to a close and with it, our long time standing pause to remember those that have gone on before us. Today we remember:

Edward "Jim" Baril
Cecelia Clouthier
Peter Grams
Vincent "Strike" LePine
James Markham
Irene Schnotala
Lloyd Short
Servicemen and women who have given their all

Losing loved ones or friends is never an easy time, so please keep all who have lost someone, in your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to list those you'd like to remember on these pages.

A special thank you to Mike Schneider, for providing us with such an outstanding sunset, as we reflect on the lives of those we've lost

Brody, 2/28/05 - 12/19/12. You are so loved, and so missed!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 08:05 am:

I'm so sorry you're hurting so much, Janie! It takes so long to get over that :-(

I am saddened to see Irene Schnotala's and Lloyd Short's names on this list! Thinking about their families at this time. I went to school with Irene's daughter and Lloyd's son. My heart breaks for them.

Thanks, Mike, for the beautiful picture today :-)

Remembering my Mom's last living sibling, Elna Mangrum (Leiper's Fork, TN) who passed away this month. She was 93 years old and lived life to the fullest. Also remembering my sweetheart and all the other members of my family who've gone to be with the Lord.
Thank you for the touchingly beautiful photo, Mike!

Remembering Bo Dog, our enormous, gentle rough-coated collie who passed away on the 21st of this month. Hey, Big Dog, when you came to live with us in 2004, I wrote in my journal that you were a real sweetheart, and you proved me right every day.

We miss our dad and grandpa, Grandpa Norm every day.

By Jeffrey P. Carlson (Dlineman) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 09:45 am:

For my Mom Addie Carlson who just passed this morning at 7:15
or so. My last parent between my wife and I and my daughters. We
saw her last night at the hospital and she looked better then she
had for days. We all smiled when Brahm's lullaby was played over
the intercom, that meant a baby had just been born at the hospital.
I'm sure when Mom reopened her eyes she saw my Dad and the
rest of the family. Our Lord was there to welcome her home with,
"Well done good and faithful servant".

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 10:08 am:

Oh, Jeffrey, I'm so sorry about your Mom. May God comfort you and your family on this very sad day!

Jeffrey, may peace and strength be with you and your family at this most difficult time. Such a blessing that you were all with your Mom last night in the hospital. She knew that you would take care of each other, and that she could go and be with your Dad in Heaven. Prayers for you and your family.

Jeffrey, my thoughts and prayers are with you on the loss of your Mom!

I miss my parents both very dearly! I am sad that my three sons never really got to know my parents, their grandparents. When I have a problem to solve, I still often think about them in my mind, and how they might have solved it. My Dad died on Feb. 14, 1985. My Mom died on Feb. 9, 1991, before I was even pregnant with my youngest son.

And, we all really miss our beloved Snow Bear (b Oct, 1998, d. Feb 9, 2013, our little Havanese boy. He was the first loss that my sons have really known, since they were too young to remember previous ones. He was a wonderful companion, even if he was a little bit crazy sometimes.

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 01:29 pm:

In loving memory of my Uncle, George Kowalski he was a Korean War vet,4/3/1932-2/4/2003. Also my loving sister-in-law Carol Smith, 8/28/1946-2/6/2007. If you speak their name they will not be forgotten.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 04:29 pm:

For the best friends we ever had, rest in peace Joey, I still cry for you everyday, and to all the dogs that left us in tears; Brody, Snow Bear and Bo Dog.
My prayers to Jeffrey on your great loss.
The Power of the Dog
by
Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passsion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find--it's your own affair--
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-term loan is as bad as a long--
So why in--Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Remembering James Foss. He taught us how to live and how to die. What a wonderful guide and teacher. He touched more lives with dignity, compassion and humor than we will ever realize!
