Brenda Leigh is at it again and she's taking us along for the adventure. She's on snowshoes, but we get to sit back and enjoy, like she's just pulling us along on a sled. Awfully nice of you, Brenda!

We're exploring in the Whitefish Bay area, the Scenic Byway - Naomikong Overlook and then down to Lake Superior where a creek bed runs into the Big Lake...calm, peaceful and serene on this visit. Beautiful.

Then Brenda takes us away from the creek bed, in search of a bridge on the trail and look at that...it's like a mini replica of the Mackinac Bridge. How neat is that?

It's always fun to go off the beaten path here in the U.P., since you never know what you'll find. Thanks for taking us along, Brenda.

I've been on that portion of the path a couple times, but never remembered seeing a bridge like that built there; something new in recent years??

While the Keweenaw is in for a winter storm, we get to enjoy almost 80 degree weather in the tropics........ I believe I'd rather have the snow!

Great adventure, Brenda!

Is that the bridge over the Two Hearted River? If it is there is a primative state park campground there. We've camped there. It's a beautiful spot.

I especially like the miniature Mackinac Bridge.

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Monday, February 18, 2013 - 03:43 pm:

Capt. Paul the bridge over the Naomikong Creek has been there for quite a few years. About 25 years ago they did have a two barrell raft system to cross the creek. Before that time there was no way across other than to wade or swim.

Charlotte this bridge is quite some distance east of the Two Hearted Bridge. It is actually east of Paradise, MI.

Mary, thanks for posting another winter journey. Before long Spring will be here and new colors will unfold.

Oh the fun Brenda has, no matter the season!! Thanks for sharing with us again, Brenda!

The bridge in the pictures is over the Naomikong Creek, built several years ago by students from Lake Superior State University through a cooperative program. Other pictures were taken at the mouth of the creek. The Curley Lewis highway that passes this spot and many others, from M-123 east to Brimley or thereabouts has beautiful turn-offs from which to view Lake Superior.
