Good morning Upper Peninsula. It is cold, and rainy and windy here in San Jose. Nasty weather. The wind chimes are singing an angry tune.

OLD PEWABIC ALL SCHOOL REUNION:

Did you attend the old Pewabic School? If so, on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Quincy FireHall, there will be a reunion of ALL who attended the school. Right now the goal is to create a guest list of people we can contact about the event. Your part in this is to send along an e-mail to Helen (Aittama) Chamberlain names of others you can remember who attended the school when you did.

Further, you will be asked to do ONE of the following:
___Donate Blood
___Volunteer for military service
___Give a speech
___Put on a 10-minute skit.
___Come and ENJOY yourself at an "informal" get-together
If you agree to the above conditions, please contact me by e-mail.

THANKS, and really looking forward to seeing you at the Pewabic School reunion.

Hi bthecute1: I was wondering if you had been affected by the horrible flooding and mudslides in CA. Glad to see you check in.

By maijaMI on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 08:40 am:

Thanks for running the picture of the pasty makers again. This has always been such a great thing, not only for all the people all over America who enjoy the pasties, but for the residents at Still Waters. Look how content they look, still being productive!

By Chris, Idaho on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 09:05 am:

Liz, I think I'm about to need a "Scooper"--can you buy one in Pocatello?

By Candy, CA on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 09:22 am:

Maija, thankfully for us in northern California the floods were mostly in southern California -- the LA area. The Tahoe/Reno area got hit with lots of snow, though -- 12-15 feet in the past week. The roads across the Sierra (there are only 4) were all closed at one point or another, stranding lots of people. At least in the Yoop, when 41 gets nasty, the road commission can still plow!

It's still blowing and raining here in Lincoln, too, CuteB, but should settle down to a dull roar by this afternoon.

Mary - - - - Dan Sarazin is going to be "50" on January 13th. Just thought you might like to know. Anyone who knows Dan if you see him on Thursday be sure to wish him a Happy "50th".

Thanks for the interesting tidbit of news! I've marked that on my
Pasty Calendar, so I'll remember! ;->

By Liz Pocatello ID on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 10:06 am:

Chris,
Not that I have seen. Silver Bear on the Home page has them. My brother in Reno said he was ordering one up with wheels. Had a nice little sliding hill in the front yard when I was done scooping on Sat and Sun.

By Kevin K. Lodi, CA. on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 10:17 am:

We are waiting for a line of heavy rain to hit here in Lodi in about 30 minutes coming from the bay area. It's not as bad as southern CA. but had enough already.

By Frank P. CA on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 12:18 pm:

Candy, CA. I sent you my E mail addy. Did you not receive? Frank P. Arbuckle CA.

By Suzanne, WI on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 01:07 pm:

Please someone help me. I am looking for the Jam Pot web site. I have a friend who wants to order some things from them and I haven't been able to find the web site. Thanks

There's a link to the Jampot on the
home page of pasty.com, but for convenience sake, just click here: Jampot website

By Bthecute1, San Jose on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 01:21 pm:

Hi Maija, not very much damage here as I live on a mountain. Just a few of the beautiful eucalyptus trees downed by the wind. If there is any flooding it is on the valley floor. Thanks for your concern. Beverly

By maijaMI on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 01:28 pm:

Suzanne: Look on the pasty cam home page for an email connection, (called Thimbleberry jam lady) or call 906-337-5110.

By Al, SoCal on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 03:47 pm:

Wind blew hard all night long, awoke this morning to a windy, beautiful sunny day with temps in the mid 50's. Missed all the damage that has hit SoCal areas. We're in the flat lands of Torrance, south of LA airport. A total of 11" over the last 8 days, but not steady rain. We have 'breaks' every other day.

By Karen... on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 04:57 pm:

Suzanne, we purchased a dozen jars of jam at the Jam Pot while up there last August. The pastry is wonderful.....ate the muffins in the parking lot and went back in to buy more. It was worth every nichol we spent there and then some.

By Berry sticky fingers on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 05:15 pm:

Jam Pot site is also listed on the main page of this site.

By just an opinion on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 05:16 pm:

Since both The Jampot and The Jam Lady are sponsors here at Pasty.com, we'll give them both equal time without a preference for either/or, leaving that up to the purchaser to decide! Thanks! :-)

By trish, wa on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 06:31 pm:

maija, are you heading to the UP soon? my brother, his wife
and my nephew are too, so maybe you'll meet them at
Toni's... they tend to go there to get you-know-whats...

By maijaMI on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 08:16 pm:

Trish: good to hear from you. sent you an email.

By R Somero CA on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 09:57 pm:

No damage here in the flatlands of San Jose that I know of-not yet anyway. Went to the Rose Bowl Parade and got in and out between the storms down there. Downey had sand bags in front of some stores the day before the parade. Saturday was perfect-posted a bunch of pics in my albums.

By downstate don on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 10:19 pm:

Anyone out there ever attend the Charles Briggs
School in Laurium? Does anyone know when it closed
it's doors for good? Thanks.

By Karen... on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 10:19 pm:

Thimbleberry jam is gooood! That's all I have to say. Next trip will be the Jam Lady. We've only been up there once. Isn't there a bridge and falls close to the Jam Lady's house? It seems I can remember her house on the curve. The berries along the road were pretty good too. We stopped and picked at a boat ramp along the way too.

Whoops! My Jam message is on the cam notes! Well, what do you expect at this time of night?
