While many of the Keweenaw leaves have fallen to the ground, there are still a number of them hanging onto their branches. Today's foursome of pictures from Ashley Byykkonen (the first two shots), Andrew Zeagler and Joyce Tormala respectively, illustrates just that. The color season is lasting longer this year, which gives us a bit more time to enjoy the different hues of reds and yellows before they need to be raked into piles for jumping in, then bagging up!

thanks for the photos of fall in yooper land. GREAT AS ALWAYS.

By Cindy M. Archibald (Cindymay) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 04:31 am:

Have been really enjoying all of the fall pictures you've been posting the last week or so. Have lots of pictures of foliage from Brockway Mtn. and along the road to Misery Bay from a few years ago myself. Planning on leaving South FL by the end of the week and coming HOME!!! Trying to figure out a way of going north that will take us through some of the fall foliage between here and there. Right now, thinking that the Blue Ridge Parkway is looking like our best bet ... Will be a little out of the way ... but hey, I'll be stopping at my sister's in NC anyway, so we might as well make a trip out of it, eh?

Morning from Suomi! For us in here clock is just now 11.40 .. .but nature is exactly same fast-coloured!

CindyMay,
Have a safe trip home. I have friends in Lumberton North Carolina...and have always wanted to take the Blue Ridge drive home in the fall. Please take pics if you go that route, to share with us :)

Oh...beautiful pics today. Temp right now on Lake Michigan is 41 degrees...so maybe that will jump start the color on our leaves.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 06:42 am:

Fabulous colors.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 07:30 am:

My daughter just returned to Ishpeming from a
trip to the Keweenaw. She said the colors
were spectacular from Brockway and also
along the Montreal River. Thanks for sharing
the leaf looker pictures.

Beautiful photos; my favorite is the last, two leaves floating on water tension.

I came home unwillingly last night from four days in Copper Harbor. Saturday afternoon, my brother Dave and I drove out east of town until the mud stopped us, then pushed through deep woods to the lakeshore. (We found a trail to take back.) What a special place that is! Sheltered from the big waves by long whalebacks of old sandstone, with a red shingle beach and scub pines behind. I forgot its name -- Something Bay -- part of the land Nature Conservancy is keeping from development. I am in my guest bedroom overlooking the slopes of Boyne Highlands across the valley, but my heart is still there listening to lake water pouring against rock, wearing it down grain by grain.

Good morning! Beautiful pictures! Makes me wish that instead of sitting here at work I could be walking in the leaves! Sigh...........

I love the third photo, too bad you we dont have smell-o-vision to capture that wonderful fall air. I wonder if Jarmo can tell us what the predominate tree species there are in Suomi, and provide a color report.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 08:34 am:

I'm enjoying one of those long, drawn out autumns, first in the Keweenaw and now in Genesee. 31 degrees here this morning! Enjoyable pics today.

By SGT Nate (Sgt_nate_tormal) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 09:06 am:

I love these pics....great colors. Thanks for posting them up on pasty. I really wish I could get the beautiful color season here at Fort Hood like there back at home in the UP. Instead I have to deal with the cactus....lol Take care everyone and have a great day!

By Shelley Trowbridge (Shelleyt36) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 09:10 am:

As always, nice pictures. Atleast this way, I can have an extended color tour season, seeing as I can't get up there and ours are finally starting to show up!

By patti belo (Pbelo) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 09:43 am:

THANKS --MY PHOTOS TURNED OUT BLACK & WHITE SO I APPRECIATE THE COLOR FOR MY DESKTOP.WOW

By Cindy Lee Maki (Cindylee) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 09:51 am:

Therese, are you talking about Keystone Bay? Haven't been out there in a couple of years. It sure is a beautiful place.

By Fran in GA (Francesinga) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 10:10 am:

Love the pictures! I planted a dogwood out front so I can see it from my L.R.window. I have 2 red maples out back but they aren't turning yet. This a.m it was 50 degrees here in N. Ga when I got up.Yay!!!

By Shelly Harwood (Shelly) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 10:26 am:

Thank you for the wonderful pictures. I've been really homesick this fall, and its nice to see what I am missing.

By Therese (Therese) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 06:21 pm:

Thanks, Cindy Lee; Keystone wasn't the name, but I still can't remember what that bay is called. "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most." And my memory. A rainy day here below the bridge. I took the pups for a long run in the woods. The leaves deep in the woods are still mostly green here but different shades of green, not the uniform color they had all sumnmer long. Guess I get to see autumn twice this year!

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 07:54 pm:

Such beautiful photos. I'll just have to change my background pic every week to use them all. It's nice I can use all of them so I can extend my favorite time of the year over a longer time. Thanks all who contributed plus of course the pasty crew for making it all availible to us.

By 69 TOOT (Flyindamooney) on Monday, October 17, 2005 - 09:34 pm:

The covered road to Redridge should be spectacular

By Roger Somero (Rsomero) on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 - 01:58 am:

Drove the covered road last Tuesday-it was super. My daughter had not seen the colors before and was thrilled.
