I can't believe it's October already, wherever did the summer go? Here in the Keweenaw the leaves are changing right before our eyes, some areas sooner than others. Some places are in many shades of Autumn already, like this photo today, from Joe Kirkish, which appears on our "Legends of the Pasty Cam 2011" calendar for this month. Joe snapped this shot somewhere along Cliff drive, with the colorful leaves appearing in layers as they extend from right in front of the camera, all the way up the cliffs.

The number of photos snapped by Joe Kirkish and shared here on the Pasty Cam pages are innumerable, as he was here from the beginning of this project, starting at Still Waters way back when. Joe has been an avid supporter of the endeavors of Pasty Central and a big advocate of the arts here in the Copper Country, too.

If you still haven't ordered a "Legends" calendar for your very own and you're thinking it's too late, well think again. You can still get one at half the original price. You may be thinking...'but the year is just about over'. Don't let that stop you, the quality of the photos in this calendar are outstanding and worthy of framing to enjoy for years to come. So don't wait any longer, order yours today: 2011 Pasty Cam Calendar. While you're at it, you might as well save on the postage and order some delicious UP Pasties, too. Proceeds from the sale of the calendars and the pasties help support care for the elderly here in the U.P.

Ok...NOT here to stir up any controversy....but here is our chance to bring the big copper BACK to the Keweenaw!! And please...no arguments, just some help to move this back home. THANK YOU!!! (And, FYI...I'm not a member..just helping to get the word out. Thank you again!)

Dear Friends of AAPS,

Time is moving fast toward the end of our contract time to Save the COPPER!

Please visit a new page I just put up on our website, where you can go and make a "purchase" (which is how the site is set up) toward your pledge of a future payment for the copper. More technical stuff is included in the product description. You would not pay until March of 2012...and only if/when we have acheived the contracted price of the copper, by adding up the bank accounts and pledges. There are a couple-3 "ringers" who could come thru in a pinch at the end-time to get us over the hump to make the purchase....but we still need as many folks to make what pledges they can, RIGHT NOW. If the whole thing doesn't happen, then you don't pay anything.

Have a look at the web page and see what you, dear people, may be able to do to help. Pledges start at only $50, and you can select multiples of that, and choose "mail-in" as your payment method. No monies will be charged or spent at this time. I have just tested it and I think all the possible kinks are worked out. No shipping, no tax, etc.

Here's the hot link right to the page:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION at this CRITICAL TIME!
(Tell your friends...send the link to the page/site with your urging them that this is a worthy effort)

From Your AAPS Board of Directors
Glenn DeVlaminck, Judy M Johnson, DaveKallio, David Hoffman, Ray Meininger, Jo Lorichon, Oedith Harris, June Rydholm, Mary Turvey, and committee, and advisors....We APPRECIATE YOU!

I'm SO excited! Spur of the moment, we found a house in
Munising right on the Lake to rent for 10 days and are
heading north tomorrow morning! Another UP road trip with
our puppies. Can't wait to see the Superior color for myself.

Absolutely breathtaking shot this morning. It's nice to know what the picture is going to be before it appears, lol!

That's not just anywhere along Cliff Drive, Mary; that's looking directly at the rock piles of Cliff Mine. J

I glanced at the picture today (as I do every day) and then went straight to WhatsUP, ate breakfast and went to bed. I just realized (like just now)that Sept is done and it's time to switch the calendars. I saw Joe's picture and then today's picture made sense...not that it didn't before. Anyway, amazing picture! Wish I was there!

It doesn't get any BETTER!
