There are no guitarists in today's slideshow, but which year features a drummer?

2006....a drummer in a bare tree :)

Here's a follow-up to yesterday's Cam Notes photos of the ice on Superior's shore. For many years now, I have noted the date when the last ice has disapeared from the rocks visible in the Eagle Harbor Cam... sort of a reality check for when spring actually arrives. Yep, we're having a very early spring in 2010. My guess is that the small amount of ice remaining on the rocks will last only a few more days this year.

Last ice gone dates:

2009: May 8
2008: May 12
2007: April 27
2006: April 21
2005: May 3
2004: May 12
2003: May 12
2002: May 14

Yes...but can he play the solo in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly? After all, he does have drumsticks :)

The 2005 picture. Does anybody recognize the man in the picture fishing with three boys?

Happy Birthday to my wife Vicki (Aunt Vic at Little Betsy), she's still my Hot Tomato! lol
She loves the U.P. and LB as well, even though the relation to the Yoop comes from my side. If the cottage doesn't sell after the passing of my dad (GN) last year, I'll have to get her U.P. sking again in Lac La Belle, and put her lounge chair in the big lake in front of the camp with one of her favorite books and a cold one. Not sure how much the camp will be used any more, so sad!•••• attorneys and a stepmom •••• bent on selling the place, some where Norman is rolling over in his resting place!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 03:05 pm:

Uncle Chuck...keep in mind: when one door closes, another one opens.
...and Happy B-day to your Hot Tomato!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 03:26 pm:

Happy Birthday to Aunt Vic, your Hot Tomato, Uncle Chuck! I didn't realize that I shared her birthday. I hope she has a wonderful day! Take care, Marianne

PS What is it with stepparents, anyway? There's trouble in our family with my husband's stepmom, too!

2009... Snow mobile looks poised to take a big drink after a hard run.

Great review.

Alex, Two more days and you can catch your breath-eh? Got the Wing ready to roll and prep'd for the season?

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 04:49 pm:

Happy birthday to the two hot tomatoes. Precious is getting readdy to retire. Started out to be in August, then July, now it is down to May. Anyone hiring a worn out old man? Will have to work to stay sane.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 05:25 pm:

Uncle Chuck...I'm counting the hours, dude. This has been one busy tax season for us, but I'm not complaining. I have not had a chance to even look at the Wing. Can't wait to hop on and, as a good man once said: "Blow off some of the stink!"

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 06:00 pm:

Alex, my three brothers have Goldwings, this August they have planned a ride around Lake Michigan. I think there is a better Lake, ahem, (Superior), to ride around, but they will be in for a great vacation.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 06:31 pm:

J.T...I agree. I have done the Lake Michigan tour, but there is not a whole lot to see. It's hard to get close to the shore. I think a better trip would be to ride the Lake Michigan shore of the southern UP to Sault Ste. Marie. From there, follow the northern shore of the Lake Superior coast up to Copper Harbor, then on to the Porcupine Mountains. Lots of very scenic/curvey roads.
However, this is just my opinion.

Alex and Janie I still hope to do the circle around Lk. Superior even if I go alone. Always wanted to but didn't. I need to find out how to get a passport as I let mine go years ago. Every time I see a Wing or HD I sigh and wish it were me. Have a fun, safe season both of you.
