How many hockey sticks are in today's slideshow?

By Gary Hookway (Ghookway) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 03:17 am:

Good morning all.....I count 15 hockey sticks.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 03:41 am:

Good morning folks -

Looks like 16 to me - 15 on the ice and one behind the glass in the background
Close Second
We'll give the benefit of the doubt

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 03:59 am:

17- good morning
Close third
You may be right. The guy on the end toward the camera appears to be holding one, too.

By Shawn Wyant (Sawyant) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 06:02 am:

Do I hear 18? Going once, going twice. Sold for 17.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 08:01 am:

2:44 am? Pretty soon we will be answering today’s question yesterday because today is only yesterday's tomorrow. (What?)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 09:10 am:

I'm actually counting 16 on the ice and none anywhere else. I'm not sure where your seeing a camera; I see a guy on the left holding his hat during the national anthem and someone behind the glass with a candy string, but no sticks. So had I been up at that unruly hour of the morning, I would have said 16.

The Coast Guard in $ Bay!!!!!! Sure don't look like the Bay to me???????

Mary says: RCW ~ Dollar Bay was derived from the notes that appeared the day the photo was featured. "These pilings were once part of the Isle Royale Mills coal dock site. The mill was located where the Citgo Station is on 41 south Of Houghton. Although still in the water this dock is now surrounded by land. That is Dollar Bay in the background.", submitted by the person who took the photo. I guess I should have said Houghton, but I assumed those buildings were the background he mentioned, thus Dollar Bay was mistakenly named? I'm confused...but then that's nothing new...ha, ha!

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 11:32 am:

I'm with Cap'n Paul on this one, 16 hockey sticks on the ice, with only a small portion of the shaft of the one in the foreground visible, and its "business end" out of the frame, while only part of the"business end" of the second visible, with its opposite end peeking out behind player #1's head.

Even going back to the original picture from 2001 and zooming in up to 8X I still can't see any hockey sticks behind the glass. Ditto for Cap'n Paul's "candy string".

Pytavey, I celebrated PastyCam's 12th anniversary with a March 1st pasty order that arrived yesterday. Ahhhh, now that definitely was a great way to celebrate!

Wonderful photos, but that guy must have been very cold in only a swimsuit. Brrrrr!

By Yooperguide (Huntandfish) on Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 04:55 pm:

Hockey sticks? Brings back good memories when my son was the goalie. He was pretty agitated that his team was losing so he screamed at the top of his voice; "Get the puck outta here". He got suspended for a few weeks but the saying went on for years. Love that kid.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Friday, March 5, 2010 - 06:01 am:

Hey Yooperguide! The Detroit Red Wings used to play the MSU hockey team a exhibition game in Demostration Hall before Munn Arena was thought of. I believe it was Lefty Wilson, then the Red Wing trainer, would play goalie for the Wings. When the action got hot around him, he would call out, "Get the puck out of here!!" It all ways caused much laughter. Boy, that was a while ago!!

The picture from 2003 reminds me of the Mel Brooks movie "High Anxiety" when the shadow from the window crosses over the face of the Hospital director and he says, 'I feel like I'm caught in a web!' Priceless.
