Here's something you can deduce from today's decade review: Which years were Leap Years?

(Extra credit if you tell us how you figured it out)

Leap year is every 4 years.

Which years were leap years? How about photos on this day of those years were not sunsets or the cemetary to remember and honor those who have passed on from this world. Those would have posted the following day, the 29th, in a leap year.

Spotted this on the animal rescue site where I have been casting my vote. Copper Country Humane Society was a week 5 winner of $1000. Copper Country Humane Society is currently 2nd in Michigan and 11th overall.

"Congratulations to our Weekly Winners; each will receive a $1,000 grant to help animals!

Week 5: Copper Country Humane Society, & CRASH's LANDING Cat Rescue & Placement Center, located in Houghton, MI, and Grand Rapids, MI (respectively). "

I'll jump over to the "What's UP" page to also pass along my thanks. Charlie typically acknowleged the many friends along the way that have contributed to this wonderful site and I second that. However, I doubt I will get any disagreement as to who rises to the top of the list when we're passing out the kudos. Thank you so much Charlie. This site has brought me so many smiles, the occassional tear, and lightened my load from whatever I might be dealing with. Priceless !!!

"Leap year is every 4 years."

Not quite.

From the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO): Leap Years [Emphasis added]:

Quote:

"According to the Gregorian calendar, which is the civil calendar in use today, years evenly divisible by 4 are leap years, with the exception of centurial years that are not evenly divisible by 400. Therefore, the years 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not leap years, but 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years."

Technically speaking, 2000 is NOT correct. 2000 was part of the previous decade. That decade ran from 2000 to 2009. 2010 starts another decade. Or this decade is 2001 to 2010.

I guess you'd better 'splain that to the USNO then.

There is no relevance to the decade in which a year resides; that is not a part of the calculation!

I think Jim was refering to the use of the term "decade review" in the original question. I could have said "10 year review" and had no ambiguity.

Thanks for the encouragement with all the comments. Hard to believe we've been doing this for 12 years.

FRNash, This ain't "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". Just remember; “Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.”

In todays Free Press, page 22-A, is a story about snow fleas. It was interesting to me.

Thank you all for voting for my daughter Katie's artwork. We had the Awards Reception this afternoon. She did not win a first prize, but she did win $25 for an Honorable Mention. We are very proud of her and she is very pleased with herself as well.
