Ashlee Harvey took advantage of a sunny day this past week and headed up toward Keweenaw County to check out Lake Superior. Looks like a perfect day for a drive around those curvy roads, since they appear to be mostly bare highway. Good thing, because with the view of Lake Superior in the first shot, it's hard to keep your eyes completely on the road. I haven't been UP North that far recently, so I was surprised to see that there really isn't much ice built up along the shore, unlike the pictures from Lake Michigan we featured earlier this week. My favorite though, is something I consider to be Lake Superior's "signature" photo...the kind that when looking at it, you know instantly it's the Big Lake. I'm talking of course, about the last photo here today...waves splashing on a distant shoal, large rocks frozen white off shore and the deep blue that colors her chilly waters, no mistaking which Great Lake you're looking at here. Great picture! and perfect timig I was just on google maps taking a ride through Eagle Harbor and Cooper Harbor. There is just something about the Big Blue Gem that draws you in.

The first picture looks like the curve just before Eagle River, which happens to be one of my favorites because I know that I am about to enjoy a fantastic ride on the Wing. Thanks for the reminder.

Doug, we've had a warm, dry winter here in Keweenaw, much to our disappointment. Even Copper Harbor isn't completely ice-covered. Oh, well, I guess we take what we can get. We've had a remarkable number of clear, sunny days, and that's always nice.

Fantastic pictures...nothing like a spin around that particular GREAT lake!! There's some Sacred Territory indeed!
