Brenda Leigh uploaded these beautiful Columbine photos and then proceeded to tell me the story of how they came about and why the flower means so much to her.

"This flower will always be special to me. The seeds were given to me by my 96 year old friend from the Soo. I placed them in the ground four years ago. Nothing ever became of them and I just figured they went bad. Then VOILA they just appeared out of nowhere. Patience is a virtue! Now, each morning when I go outside I check the two plants out, think of my friend and how in many years down the road I will always have something living that is part of him."
I like that these flowers symbolize more than just the outward beauty you can see in them, but also for the reminder of someone who's touched Brenda's life. Hopefully, now that they've finally started growing for Brenda, they'll keep coming up each year.

In case you're wondering about the background of the third Columbine photo (like I was), Brenda explained that she actually laid down on the ground for that shot, looking up toward the sky and an amazing color of blue.

It has been fun to watch the leaves growing day-by-day on the Bridge Cam this spring. Does anybody know what kind of Truck Load Sale is going on the the Ramada parking lot this morning?

Matthew 6: And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin.

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

THe truck is parked there for a plant sale.

Thank you for that, Alex, it's always refreshing to see/hear the Bible quoted. And it certainly describes the beautiful flowers from Brenda's garden....such a wonderful way to remember a friend! Thanks for sharing your gift, Brenda!

It is a truck load of flowers at the Ramada parking lot. I only know because I called the Ramada yesterday when I saw the truck. LOL.

The pictures are beautiful. Just like a postcard.

Brenda, Aldo Leopold mused that "It is fortunate, perhaps, that no matter how intently one studies the hundred little dramas of the woods and meadows, one can never learn all the salient facts about any of them." Cherish your special flowers.

Verses 28 to 32 of Matthew 6 remind me of all of the poorly clothed, naked and hungry people of the world, especially in Africa.

What beautiful flowers and to remember a friend each time you see them. I received some type of gladiolus blub at a wedding several years ago and each year they come up and remind me of the wedding couple. Enjoyed the Bible references also.

In 1985 my Grandma and I went through her garden and harvested seeds from her corn poppies. I planted them in my garden in Wyandootte, and when I moved in 1993 I saved some seed and planted it in my new place. From a couple of plants in 1994 I now have thousands of seedlings. I will sprinkle more seeds this year in my vegetable garden among the rhubarb. Every time I see their cheery red blooms I remember Grandma.

Therese, Could you please send me email..as I have several questions for you about your rhubarb and poppy combination. THANKS
