After a long, cold winter, it's a welcome sight to see the sun shining. It makes you want to get outdoors and catch some of those rays, which is exactly what Joyce Tormala and her exploring partners did recently. That's Champ in the top photo, happily trotting along with his ears flopping and a definite "spring in his step." Then Champ decides it's time to give Paco a shower as he shakes the water off, spraying everything within a few feet around them. It's definitely a sure sign that spring is here when you see more folks and their pets moving about like this.

Her pets have more fun than the rest of us. She gets great shots of them out too.

There's nothing like Spring in the U.P. Everything will be green and budding in a couple of weeks.

On May 10, 1967, there was 10 inches of snow in Marquette. That was right after I moved, briefly, to the UP. What a welcome!

I love Joyce's dog pictures! Thank you, Joyce and Mary for making me smile. :-)

For what it's worth, it snowed in Calumet last year on the first Saturday in May, which happened to be Michigan Tech's Graduation Day, as it is tomorrow. It also snowed in Houghton that day during the Graduation ceremony. (My oldest son graduated that day. We had dinner afterwards in Calumet.) I guess snow in May may not be all that uncommon, then, perhaps? :-)

When I went to my senior prom, which I believe was on May 1, 1976, it snowed that night.

We left on our Senior class trip in May of '71...it snowed that morning.
