Good morning! 36 here in MN. No frost on the pumpkin yet, but darn cold. Haven't turned the furnace on yet, but it's coming. Still supposed to be in the 60's every day this week so for now I'll just turn the heater on in the bathroom. I hate being cold when I shower. I guess I really just hate being cold.

Another Grandchild announcement...it must be a day for babies!
Our first Granddaughter was born early this morning, around 3:15. Nicole Marie weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz and Mommy, Daddy and Nicole are all doing fine! Now we're blessed with THREE Grandchildren....Life IS good!

Nicole Marie

P.S. Congrats to you too Kenty!
By
Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 02:47 pm:

Congratulations Kenty and Mary. I see you remained calm enough to give us the correct measurements. (Ain't that Right Charlie?) :)

Mary says: Thanks for the Congrats. We remained calmer because this is Kenty's fifth Grandchild and Nicole is our third Grandchild (our first GIRL though!)...not that it makes it any less exciting, it's just that Kira, is Charlie's first, so he was a bit more flustered! :->

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 03:00 pm:

Darn!!! I was hoping I was going to get in here to congratulate you before you had a chance to announce it. But then we got company and now I'm too late. Well, congratulations anyway. She is a little doll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 09:41 pm:

Tomorrow starts a special time of year for the Dr. and I. It is the annual Geological Society of America conference, held this year in Houston. It is our chance every year to catch up on the latest research in geology and also to see old aquiantences that in most cases we haven't chatted with since the meeting last year in Denver.

I'm sure Hurricane Ike and how climate change is involved will dominate, but there are plenty of other sessions as well, including 2 on the Keweenaw Peninsula that I will be at. Should be fun, as always.........

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 10:53 pm:

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 11:20 pm:

Congratulations, Mary on the birth of your first granddaughter! What an awesome time! I know that you and your family will truly enjoy her!

Also, congratulations to you, Kenty, on the birth of your grandson. What a special time it is!

It was 34 here in mid-Michigan this morning, and it's supposed to be the same in the morning. We have a Frost Advisory for tonight, midnight to 8 am, I believe it is.

Good night, all! :-)

By Ronald Kotila (Bigdog) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 04:15 am:

Good Morning everyone

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 11:57 am:

We just got home from going around downtown Detroit. The Lions and the Bears are playing. Tailgate parties EVERYWHERE. The best place they were tailgating was at the Eastern Market. They had thier bus loads of everything to tailgate with. Music blasting, grills going, people playing games, even putting up satalite dishes on the top of motor homes. All around Ford Field they were tailgating. Then there was a dogwalk going on from Hart Plaza down Woodward a little bit then back to Hart Plaza, which is right at the waterfront. Lot of stuff going on and a lot of people. :O))))

Things aren't functioning right in Pasty Land!

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 05:13 pm:

I hope everything is OK in the CC.

Hey mickill mouse, by the looks of the score, the Bears played. I don't believe the Lions will have a winning team in my lifetime!

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 05:24 pm:

Actually, Paul, your friendly neighborhood webmaster is in Southeast Michigan today, delayed by some car trouble. The daily Pasty Cam update will hopefully make it on this evening. (We haven't missed a day in 10 1/2 years).

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 06:02 pm:

Poor Charlie. That's no fun. It happened to my husband earlier
this summer. Also in Southeast Michigan (close to Port Huron).

Good luck and safe travels.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 06:41 pm:

TO PAUL OESTERLE:

I really do not think the Lions will be a winning team any time soon either. A friend of ours called and asked if we would help her mount a flat screen to the wall, was that a pain in the butt to do. When we left the score was Bears 3, Lions 0.

It was a pain to mount that flat-screen t.v. to the wall. She said her daughter WANTED it on the wall so it had to go on the wall. So it is on the wall. :O)

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 08:01 pm:

Hey Mick!! We just purchased a new LCD, 1080 pixel, 40" TV and it was hooked up yesterday morning. We have Dish satellite and a 30 foot tower for the regular channels. Wow! 300 channels and nothing to watch. I was one of those people who said, "It will be a cold day in heck when I pay to watch TV! The new TV is great though. Sometimes now I even buy water! Then I complain about the price of gas. I guess I'm just an old, typical American. The year we retired, 1996, we went to Europe for a 30 day tour. People over there despise us!
Charlie, I'm glad there is nothing major wrong. Cars can be repaired. Hope you can keep your record intact. Best wishes. We are about 50 miles west of the southeast part of the LP. If you need a place to stay or a ride, send us a note.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 08:15 pm:

TO PAUL OSTERLE:

I know what you mean with a lot of channels to watch and not a darn thing to watch. A lot of times when I am doing something around the place, I turn on one of the music stations to the cable. Can we come over to your place and watch t.v.? just kidding. I finally heard the highlights, if that what you would like to call them, to the football game. When we got home we watched the tale end of the car races.

Like I said, we still have our Red Wings.

Anyway... Hope you continue to enjoy that t.v. of yours and you will find something to watch ;o))

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 08:38 pm:

Hey Marianne Y. How's your local football team doing this year? If I remember correctly didn't they make the playoffs last year? Our local team went undefeated last year but lost the first playoff game to New Lothrup. We are undefeated so far this year also! They have a tough team next week. A couple of classes higher then us.

We're still pulling for you Charlie!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 08:47 pm:

I am getting ready to turn in. Good Night. We were up 4:30 AM. I wanted to take my time waking up to go out and get some pictures of things with frost on the ground. I can not wait til I get them developed. I am just kinda getting use to the digital camera.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, October 5, 2008 - 11:31 pm:

It looks like the first time in 10 & one half years,so sorry to see it, but it ain't over just yet.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, October 6, 2008 - 07:38 am:

Hi Paulwebbtroll! Before Friday night, our team was the only undefeated team in the conference, 5-0. I think they were overconfident Friday night, and they lost a conference game to the second toughest team on the league, so they dropped to second place. They still should be a shoo-in for the playoffs, though. If they get their act back together, they still could end up at Ford Field. We have a really good team this year, so we'll see. :-)

Congratulations on your team's undefeated status! I wish you all continued success!
