What an interesting photo to start the week with, representative of the mornings we've been having lately with it so cold you just about turn blue. I'm not sure where Richard Barclay is standing while taking this shot, except to say that it's somewhere above Lake Superior. Maybe that's all we need to know, so then each of us can imagine it to be wherever on the Big Lake we'd like to be.

Beautiful! Wish I were somewhere UP there.....

Looking at this brings tears to my eyes. Just knowing all the beauty that God has granted to all humans and they can't even see it. Beautiful picture.

This true-blue photo looks like it was taken from the deck of a resturant in Copper Harbor. We spent an hour on the deck last year when it was much greener and warmer, but the beauty was no better then. A wonderful photo.

Wherever it is, it's gorgeous! Could be Eagle Harbor too.

Very nice! It almost looks like there are smoke stacks in the distance on the hill, but they are probably just trees.

Very pretty picture...I have the winter time blues too!

Here in Northern Indiana it is 52 degrees this morning and by evening it is to be 34 degrees and sleet turning to snow. Sence I found the Pasty Cam I have enjoyed it very much. We love the UP although we have always been Hoosiers. We visit the UP often. You people know how to enjoy the snow. I love this mornings picture it is so pretty up there. Enjoy the history of the area. Keep up the good work.

What a way to start the day with such a breathtaking picture. Whoa! How neat...someone from Finland witnessing the same beauty.
;)

That's a truly beautiful place! I hope to one day visit the UP in snow season -- have only been there in summers. It is so great to remember through these photos how vast our country is, and how different one region is from another. We have early spring here in South Carolina, mid-70's and a yard full of robins and cardinals today.

He has a good eye, thats a great picture.

By Tim Holland (Tholland) on Monday, March 3, 2008 - 05:03 pm:

The copper country is really amazing in all four seasons. Spring, for the water run off at the waterfalls, summer for the lake activities, fall for the big waves and colors and winter for the extreme snow.

Even though the roads can be tricky, it is worth going up in the middle of winter to take in winter's beauty and power. It's like being on another planet.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, March 3, 2008 - 05:42 pm:

I agree Tim. The UP is amazing in the winter, especially if you have a dependable vehicle to get around in. There is something about the angle of the sun, the shadows and the shade of blue in the sky during the winter that gives it a completely different mood.

If i didnt have to go to work, I could of spent the whole day drinking coffee and just gazing at this photo...nice work!

Is there a larger version of this picture available? this should be a WOW (wallpaper of th week)

Mary says: An excellent photo indeed, but not the chosen one for the WOW shot unfortunately (One of the tough jobs here, is trying to decide which photo gets the nod). If you'd still like to have it for your own computer, just drop me an email at mdrew@pasty.com, tell me what size you'd like (choices are: 1600 X 120; 1280 X 800; 1024 X 768; 800 X 600; or 640 X 480 and I'll get it done and send it to you.
