What better way to give our youngsters an appreciation of the beauty the Keweenaw has to offer, than to take them out in the midst of it. It looks like John Sturos was at the tail end of this group of explorers as they made their way along the trails with the aide of snowshoes. The little one pulling the sled has the right idea... take along some extra transportation just in case he gets tired, then someone can pull him the rest of the way back. Yooper ingenuity at its best!

Oh to be a kid again!!! But I'd want to know everything I know now. LOL

We now have snow like that down here in Motown area, perfectly lovely. But we're due to get rain all weekend, so back to mush and slush for us.

Have not tried that yet, but I did just get up here. The little guy is ready for more fun.

What a precious photo! One that will surely bring smiles and many grand memories to those little ones - twenty years from now.

I haven't tried snowshoes---are they better in the wet heavy snow than cross-country skiis? (Note I have trouble waxing correctly for wet snow). Whichever, I envy you all for having nice trails up there.

I saw the forecast down here for the weekend, like Maija says. Bummer; I would have tried going out in either wet, or icy, snow conditions. Maybe I'll try after work some night.

The forecast is the same for here in the Upper Peninsula. Warming up and then rain and then snow and it keeps on repeating...never ending UP here!
