Eight years ago a warm spell swept through the U.P., bringing out the tourists to watch the snow banks melt.

Good morning all! Congratulations Susan. Roger does this mean it was really 2:38 in San Jose? The FedEx truck brought our pasties and calendars yesterday.

Good Morning, Everyone! We got 4 inches of heavy, wet snow here in mid-Michigan yesterday. The older kids like it because of the business, shoveling and snow blowing driveways and sidewalks, etc, for neighbors. My special needs son will be happy, because the City Forest's "snow hill", etc, should be open, with more snow than ice. Congratulations to Mich Tech on last night's GLI victory over Mich State, and good luck tonight against Michigan! Have a good Saturday, you all!

Doesn't anyone have sympathy for MSU, my alma mater?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, December 29, 2007 - 12:46 pm:

I definitely have sympathy for you and MSU, Tom! You are a nice guy. Your guys had a bad day yesterday, between their GLI hockey loss to Tech and their Championship Bowl football loss to Boston College; that was one heck of a day. I'm sorry about the Bowl game loss. But, to be honest with you, my heart is with Tech on the hockey game, and the fact that Tech had 7 consecutive losses to MSU at the GLI before last night, so it was about time that Tech pulled a win, and a decisive one at that!

MSU's quarterback had a really bad day yesterday, with 4 or 5 interceptions. I know exactly how you feel, since our high school's quarterback had something like 3 key interceptions in the state championship game in November, to lose the championship game. You do have my sympathies on that one. That, and Boston College has never been one of my favorites, for some reason. :-)

Good afternoon from northern Kalkaska county MI.
Barely made it up here last night through the storm whereas it was white out blizzard conditions from the Zilwaukee Bridge to Grayling which was the worst. Cars slid off the road everywhere, emergency vehicles all over, the rest areas were filled with travelers! Stuck here at our cabin with a laptop until the county comes through! This is typical for here, where we are in the famous Lake Michigan lake effect snow belt often rivalling as much snow depths as the Keweenaw. A Snowmobilers mecca! Right now up to my knees and still coming down!
We have a couple of annual Christmas Bird Counts to do in this area--hope we get around with this 2 wheel drive vehicle! Then maybe off to the UP to find and photograph some raritys!

Russ, Christmas birds? What a tweet job you have.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Saturday, December 29, 2007 - 09:23 pm:

We get a lot of Snow birds down here in the Winter. My new neighbor from Mississippi was looking for yard sales and I told her no one has yard sales until the Snow birds return. Then she looked up in the sky and asked "what do they look like" lol

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, December 29, 2007 - 10:49 pm:

LOL - That's funny!
