Deacon seems to be enjoying the sights surrounding Little Fumee Lake, located near the cities of Iron Mountain and Norway. Nice that Sarah Tyler has her pup decked out with his own backpack. I bet it's loaded with doggy treats and a couple of chew toys to play with during the rest stops along the trail. While hiking throughout the U.P. though, you really need to be careful, as you may run into some creatures you normally don't see everyday. This Dino was spotted by Alicia Koski-Marshall at the Sunset Bay Resort and Campground on the 7 mile road near Ahmeek and it looks like he's taken a fancy to the gazebo, maybe thinking it would make a good place to take a rest from all the trekking he's done.
I know I asked earlier in the week about the name of Bond falls, but where does Little Fumee Lake get its name from? Sunset-a saurus is cool.

Boy, I don't see much color around that lake. It's a nice pic, but not what I would expect to see at this time. Do you suppose the fact that the trees are around a lake (which might moderate the temp) accounts for all that green? Or, maybe, was that pic taken several weeks ago? Whatever, the color doesn't compare to what we have in Adrian right now, and Adrian is about as far south as you can go in Michigan (only 15 miles north of the Buckeye border).

Holy Smokes! I had missed yesterday's pics. Wow! Now those pics are what I expect to see out of the U.P. this time of year. Just breathtaking!

CharlesinAdrian, Yep, the colors on the trees next to the lakes, don't change until later. The reason is that lake temps do not drop as fast as land temps. Hubby just got home from the road today, and was looking out back at our trees and the neighbor's...and commenting on how green our trees by Lake Michigan are, compared to the trees in Ohio, PA, and NJ, along the tollways.

Jarmo,I think meeting you would be delightful. You send such lovely pictures for us all to enjoy, I think Finland must be a beautiful place....and it is easy to see why so many Finnish people, when they came to the USA, chose to live in the UP of Michigan.
