Good Morning, great football game here in Calumet last night. Copper Kings won by one point. There was 9 seconds left in the 4th quarter and they got a touch down. Trailing by one point, kicked the ball for the extra point and they WON by one point!!! Talk about a nail bitting game. Now I'm definetly a football MOM.

Cindylee
As a former coaches wife and football mom I want to congradulate the Copper Kings and their parents for keeping a tradition of participation alive and well.

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 11:49 am:

Cindy Lee, oh how I miss the local football games. My own 4 boys played years ago and the 5 grandsons have too. It's so much more fun when you have family playing. One little shaver is only 7 years but is into all sports already. Looking forward to his high school days.(Sigh) seems like yesterday I was rooting for good old MHS in my days and now it's 49 years since (WOW)! Enjoy it all when you can. Oh well there's always my Packers.

Congrats to the Copper Kings :)

Fran, I printed your Pasty recipe last night, and left it on my desk. Hubby was on the computer this morning and saw your recipe, and excitedly asked, "You're making pasties?!" ;-)

Thanks Rwolli. My hubby forgot that today was Sweetest Day. In an effort to make it up, he offered to mow the grass today. I was thinking more along the line of flowers, though. ;)

By Randall Ollila (Rwolli) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 02:05 pm:

Sur5er.

Now if hubby were to offer to make the pasties that might make up for the slight on Sweetest Day. A lot more to making pasties than mowing the lawn.

With the talk about football here is a snap shot of the team from a few years ago, like in 1918! Almost back to the "Gipper" although he wasn't on the highschool team. Found this in my mother's Photo Alblum from Class of 1920.

sur5er---DO NOT USE REFRIGERATE BISCUITS TO MAKE YOUR PASTIES!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO USE PILLSBURY REFRIGERATED PIE DOUGH. IT IS IN THE SECTION BY THE DAIRY PRODUCTS,LIKE MARGERINE,YOGURT AND CHEESE.tHE BOX IS RED AND ABOUT 2"WIDE AND MAY BE A FOOT LONG. yOU JUST HAVE TO UNROLL THEM AND PUT THEM IN THE DISH TOFORM THE PASTIE. I HAVE TRIED THE PREFORMED FROZEN KIND AND THEY DON'T WORK--TOO CRUMBLY!! GOSH I HOPE NO ONE TRIED USING BISCUITS AS IT WOULDN'T WORK.TOO SOFT A DOUGH!

P.S. I am not hollering I just wanted to be sure ya'll saw this.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 03:11 pm:

Thanks Fran. When I read the recipe, I thought, 'Pillsbury biscuits'...don't know how I did that...but I did. Duh! Thanks for catching me on that, because I would have bought the biscuits, instead of the pie dough. :)

That would have made an intersting pasty though, eh. Would that have been considered a Pastry Pasty? ;-)

Yooper,

The kids in my class will love this graphic
which I will show to them on Monday.

By Cindy Lee Maki (Cindylee) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 08:54 pm:

To Donagain, thanks for the picture. My how things have changed. Can't believe how things have changed over the years. My son Jake plays for the 8th grade team. So far this year they haven't won very many games, but the way the team has been playing, Calumet High looks like they have a talented bunch of young men geting ready to make for a really good team in the future. Thanks to the coaches for teaching them, they- the coaches- deserve a big THANKS!!!!

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 09:14 pm:

sur5er, if you did buy the Pillsbury bisquits you could have made vegetable pizza. As you would say "delish"! If you've never made it, tell me and I'll give you the receipe.

By Fran in GA (Francesinga) on Sunday, October 16, 2005 - 01:21 am:

Ms.Katie, veggie pizza sounds good! I would like the recipe. Fran
