Here UP North, if you're traveling on US41, between Marquette and Houghton, you'll pass through the little town of Three Lakes, named for the three lakes that are nearby, Lake George, Lake Ruth and Beaufort Lake. The latter is the subject of today's colorful display.

Marsha Galbraith took a drive around Lake Beaufort with her trusty camera by her side and what she found was the wall of colored leaves you see in today's photos. We're so lucky that fall gets multiplied by two whenever it is viewed on the shores of a calm lake such as this one. When you see it doubled up like this, reflecting in the still waters of Lake Beaufort, it helps to make up for the season being so short to begin with.

Once again, Marsha has taught us to slow down and take note of all the beauty that surrounds us, rather than just speeding by on our way to somewhere else. Thank you, Marsha, for always seeing what we often take for granted.

Thanks, Mary! This is an especially beautiful fall in the UP. We came to our place in Aura twice, all the way from the Flint area, 9 days apart! I can do that now that I'm retired!

The photos today remind me just how drab SE Texas is this time of year, not to mention that it's still in the 90s here. Even our local weathergirl is complaining that this is October, not July!

Beautiful pictures. Fall is my favorite season. When the trees decide they are going to change into something not so colorful it seems like it takes them forever.
