The 4th of July is a time to celebrate the birth of our country, the declaration of freedom from Britain and here in the Copper Country many of the communities have celebrations with parades, music, games for the kids, fireworks and flags flying everywhere.

The top photo was snapped by Lindsay White, out at Kauppi's Dockside Resort in Gay. It is such a peaceful scene with the sun going down, reflecting on a calm Lake Superior and over it all waves the American Flag. What a great way to end a day that is filled with so much revelry.

Make sure you fly your flag proudly today, remembering the men and women who have served and are still serving to keep our freedoms free. These bold stars and stripes represent our freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion... they represent them all.

Good Morning everyone. Happy Birthday, America! I am looking forward to hearing composer and director John Williams' new version of our national anthem tonight when he directs the National Symphony Orchestra, special trumpets, and choir on the National Mall on PBS! That should be awesome. (But then I love all of John Williams' music.)

By Greta Jones (Urbanescapees) on Friday, July 4, 2014 - 02:44 pm:

Well said Shirley. I second that!
Happy 4th everyone!
