Here are a few smiling faces from 1956 to help send a Happy Mother's Day on this week's Shoebox Memory. Recognize any of these kids, for those of you who grew up in the Keweenaw? The photo is featured on CopperHarborPlayground.org, as part of their current project to raise the funds needed for a complete makeover of this anchor of the community. They are nearing the goal, thanks to so many volunteers who have poured their time and effort into the project. Last Monday Marty Faassen and Miranda Davis gave a presentation at the Keweenaw Lion's Club, which promptly added their support with a donation.

Holy smokes! I sure do recognize some of these
faces, and some are still prominent in the Harbor
today. Sure do miss the old Pontiac Resort/Keweenaw
Inn North/Mariner North building in the background.
