It's so nice to see the flowers beginning to bloom here in the Keweenaw, where we're used to having snow still covering the ground this time of year. I don't recall too many Easter weekends that we had green grass and warmer than normal temperatures like we've been having. One of the results of the nicer weather, is an early bloom for the annual flowers like these daffodils that Taana Kalliainen said have actually been up for a couple weeks now. They sure are a vivid yellow, like they're just bursting with sunshine!

The tulips in the second photo were given to me as a thank you gift for helping someone out (Thanks Ben!) and are brightening my kitchen table until they're done blooming. Then we'll plant the bulbs for a repeat performance in our garden next spring. I set them outside for a short time today, to soak up some sunshine and brighten up the front porch.

Nothing puts a smile on your face like colorful flowers blooming in the spring.

Ahhh what a delightful way to start the day online. Thanks Taana.Hard to believe it's Good Friday already! I'm remembering how we used to observe this so solemn day. So much different today. Hope everyone has a shining beautiful day.

We too have had an early spring. I have a light purple and a dark purple Lilac bush that has been blooming for about 3 weeks now. My Iris's are blooming and I already have a baby tomato. I love spring it is so fresh and colorful. The birds seem to agree. I also have a bush with white flowers that has bloomed and lots of little blue with white flowers, I can't remember their name but they are like ground cover with green leaves. My roses have not yet bloomed but some of my friends say theirs are blooming all over the place. I also have sunflower sprouts coming up. I may have to cover them tonight, I will watch and see.

My daffodils have long since bloomed and faded, my lilac bushes are blooming and smelling beautifully, just hope the cold temps don't harm them. Got down to 29F this morning, and supposed to get lower tonight. Hmmm, Jan. in April.:(

Thanks Mary, beautiful flowers you have there also!

I was playing with my new camera app HDR Camera. HDR photography is so cool but you need a regular program to achieve the look with regular digital photographs. As for the app, not too bad!

Here's a link explaining HDR...

Lucylu:
If your little blue and white flowers are tiny blue flowers with white centers on a low ground covers,they are probably Forget-me-nots...

one of my very favorites...

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Friday, April 6, 2012 - 05:05 pm:

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, gives us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happing in the darting bird
Tha suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid-air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reversed for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that wee fulfill.

Thanks for that, Hollidays. Written by my favorite poet, Robert Frost. :)
