Brenda Leigh goes on more adventures in a U.P. Season, than many people do in a year and she's at it again. This time she's taking us along on a kayaking adventure on the eastern end of the U.P., near Point Iroquois Lighthouse on Lake Superior. This was a first for Brenda, to be kayaking in March on the Big Lake, she was out there with her sister and a friend last Sunday and there was still plenty of ice around the Point, even with the 72° temperatures that day. What an amazing expedition to be a part of, paddling in and around all that ice. You can see in the 3rd photo, where the gals found a spot to rest where there were some dry rocks. Brenda said the rocks were nice and warm from the sun. What a contrast, sitting on the stones in the warm sunshine, with the mounds of snow and ice surrounding you just a short distance away. Only in the Upper Peninsula can you have winter and summer in the same day.

Looks so peaceful but adventurous too. That is a neat Lighthouse to visit!

Brenda's adventures are so much fun to see!

Very cool! I think Brenda should have her own travel/adventure show.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful day. Thanks Brenda. You rock!

When I saw the word kayaking, I knew it had to be Brenda. Really cool pics there, friend.;)
I agree with you, Alex, she's always got somethin' goin' to keep us entertained!

She could call it: UP With Brenda...or...Brenda Gone Wild :-)

Way too cool, Brenda! Your pics made me feel like I was right there with you. What an experience you've given us vicariously!

Hi
Brenda has more sisu, and doubtless more skill, than I do with regard to kayaking. While I never plan to capsize, I always consider it a possibility. So I don't see myself going out among the ice floes. As always, interesting pictures.

Yep...as soon as I saw those pics...I said..."And there's Brenda!"......LOVE the pics again!!! Brenda SHOULD have a tv show...She and her hubby Jim are a pair of the FINEST people to grace our planet. I got to meet them and enjoyed "breaking bread" with them...you won't meet a more wonderful couple!

They hit my bro's B&B in Nahma quite often...maybe a pack should take the place over some weekend! The Pasty Pack...LOL....

I'm spending too much time on Facebook, cause every time I see someones entry, and I like what I have read, I look for the 'Like' button.

I've been in the Iroquois Lighthouse.

How many steps, Thomas? :)

By Eddyfitz (Eddyfitz) on Friday, March 23, 2012 - 10:45 pm:

Better late than never with this info.

a little known fact:

All lighthouses have a different color scheme so they can be identified by ship personnel from a distance.

How else would a ship captain, especially in the 1800's know from a distance if he was abreast of Gull Island or Point Iriquois??

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, March 24, 2012 - 10:35 am:

Now that's interesting, Eddyfitz, thank you for that info. See, one DOES learn something new everyday! One of many good things about Pastycam!
