Good Morning, and best wishes for everyone to have a great weekend. Super picture.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 08:11 am:

But David, I don't want to wakie wakie...although I must admit that the eggs and bakie sound good. I'll have my eggs sunny side up, please.

The sun is shining and it promises to be a beautiful day. Have been up since 5am trying to get some paperwork done, so I have time to play outside today. :)

Long drenching rain yesterday, putting fears of wildfire to rest for a few days at least. My garden is flattened but the frogs are happy. This is a rain-day, a cleaning-day, a day to restore order to a home that in the summer plays second fiddle to the out-of-doors. Time to move some of that out-of-doors back out the door! (Sweep sweep sweep!)

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 12:23 pm:

Sur5er; You got be wakie to put in your order for eggs and bakie - sunnyside up eyes closed or open - whole wheat or white toast - Bunny Bread - I'am wondering why when I do my profile on here this word gets dotted out? ( •••••• )Incase it dose here too I will scramble it in this way for those of you who like puzzels.( INSOAC )Hint.. A place where you bet $ to win $.
Mary can you explain? My guess would be it must be close to some kind of cuss word.
Would like to see more pictures of you all in your profiles.Unless you been featured on America's Most Wanted.

Mary says: The reason for the editing of that word you mention above where you bet your hard earned $'s, is to thwart the spammers that have tried to advertise for there "insoac" sites on here! :->

David, Wheat toast please...eyes wide open and on the runny side.
I guess a lot of us don't have our pics on our profiles, because we're camera shy, eh. Nope, not on America's Most Wanted...not that I know of. Hey has anyone seen my pic on the Most Wanted? It looks something like this :-)

Once again enjoyed checking out the business in the spotlight. If you click on the Brockway Inn picture, you'll find bear stories and more.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but I have a debate going with my sister-in-law about how to pronounce Presque Isle. One of us says its "aisle" and the other says its "eel". Please help!

By Ann Muir (Annm) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 03:27 pm:

Shelly, it should be pronounced "eel". People here in New Jersey are always a bit startled when I say that anyone from Michigan, or the Great Lakes area, grows up knowing how to pronounce French. We're surrounded with it! I grew up on the banks of the Au Sable River (sandy river), and our favorite place in the UP is Grand Marais (big swamp).

By Shelly Harwood (Shelly) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 03:31 pm:

I grew up pronouncing it "EEL", but she insists that its "aisle". Of course we both think we are correct!

Everyone have a good weekend. I am going to the
Dream Cruise on Woodward Avenue tommorrow night.
So good to see all the old cars and tons of people
all the way from Pontiac to Ferndale. Maybe I'll
see you there!

By Shelly Harwood (Shelly) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 05:57 pm:

OK, I decided to call the Presque Isle Chamber and the girl said that in the lower penninsula its definately pronounced "EEL" So, my poor sister-in-law had to give me this one. :)

I saw on my Comcast News Week in weird that 600 people fit into a sauna at the Finn Fest in Marquette to break the worlds record.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 11:51 pm:

The FINNGRANDFEST 2005 was wondermous!! So many friends from Finland, Canada, Minnesota, etc, etc. I think the sauna had 660 some people in it. The Guiness World Records people were there, too. I couldn't get there 'cause I was busy wit' da banjo. (Kilpela and Friends and The Backwoods Boys and Les Ross Sr.) I heard there were over 26,000 through the turnstiles at the 'tori'. (store or marketplace in the Superior Dome.) You shoulda been dere!
