Re yesterday's tunnel discussion:
grants are given for specific purposes and organizations have done something or other to receive them. "Take the money and run" do whatcha can w whatcha got.

I think the tunnel is great. Can you imagine being a parent in Houghton worrying about your child crossing 41 (especially as it now is) to get to the park? Or a handicapped person denied access to what all others can enjoy?

As for roads: the roads up there are pristine compared to what we drive on down here in Motown area--no exaggeration.

Margaret in Amarillo: Do you live near the Amer. Quarter Horse Assoc.? I know their headquarters is in Amarillo somewhere....owning many Quarter Horses, I have sent plenty of money there Ha!

By sur5er on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 09:25 am:

Maija,
Thanks for explaining about government funding ;) I know it frustrates a lot of people when they see money being spent for something and they wonder 'well if they had the money to do that, then why didn't they do this instead?'

Do you remember that grant book that we had to work from, back in the precomputer days? Yep, that one that was several thousand pages thick. I remember when I was handed that for a program I was working on at the PD, "You've got to be kidding me, right?" ;)

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 12:00 pm:

I am SO sorry to say that Francis just lost her Hal at 11:05 AM (EDT) this morning. She just called me. She is OK for the moment but said it's about to get very rough. My family and I will be heading up by her tomorrow morning, and if you want to write her, she is at fahunter39@comcast.net

If you all knew what your prayers and support have done for her... It has made her feel SO good and SO loved.

Please keep them in your prayers, and if anyone needs any further info from me, just click on my name above, which links to my E-Mail.

Thank you.

Alex Tiensivu

By downstate don on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 05:50 pm:

Sorry to hear about the news Fran. Hope you find
comfort in knowing that you are in our thoughts
and prayers. Since I wont have access to my computer tommorrow, I want to pay tribute to Bertha Bonneau who passed away this month. Her
husband Benard passed away in February. Two
wonderful people that were married for sixty-eight
years and who were great examples of a perfect
marriage. Now they are united for eternity. Have
a good weekend everyone!

My deepest sympathy to you & your family, Fran.
We should not take life for granted, cause one
never knows what the future holds. You have your Pasty Cam family who will stick by you and will listen & give support.

Janie, IA: American Quarter Horse is due East of my home about 6 miles. Just down I-40. If you get on I-40 from OKC and come west, you'll see it plain as day.

By Susan, Fl on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 11:20 pm:

Fran and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know nothing makes much difference this early on, but someone very wise once told me that the sooner you can get that person out of your head and into your heart the easier things will be. I'm sure you have wonderful memories that will sustain you and even give pleasure eventually. Wish we could be there in person to give you a hug...or a bunch of them!

By Fran,Ga on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 11:22 pm:

Thank you all of my dear friends.Today has been very difficult day. Hal went very peacefully, his breathing gradually slowed and then it was over. My daughter and I were with him and told him it was o.k.to go home.It was over quickly and peacefully. We absolutely had the best Nurses and techs. They gave him such good care.

By Susan, Fl on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 03:37 am:

A note to brighten the day....the "bride to be" missing from Duluth Ga has been found safe in New Mexico...apparently abducted by a man and a woman, she escaped and called her family from a phone not even knowing where she was except that it was not Duluth. Bunch of happy people...it sounds like New Years Eve over the phone during the interview with family members. Every once in a while something that sounds so grim ends happily. Thank goodness!

By Ga. Peach on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 05:15 am:

Susan~ I live in Alpharetta, GA, 15 miles west of Duluth~ I have to say, there has not been any mention of her discovery here, I wonder: How do you know this in Florida?

No problem, just asking.......just wondering???

By Susan, Fl on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 05:34 am:

Ga Peach....I work in law enforcement and we were advised over teletype by New Mexico and I turned the TV on to FOX news network and within 5 or ten minutes they also had it...the family, all the wedding party, minister and half of the town seems to be in the front yard! Been a long time since I've seen so many happy people in one spot!

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 06:36 am:

My Skywarn group was part of the search! I NEVER expected she would be found alive, and frankly, that was the general attitude toward it. Praise God!

By copper country resident on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 07:05 am:

Thank God Jennifer was found ALIVE! Now the two families may enjoy a WEDDING. And not have to do a FUNERAL!

I think that Jennifer gal from Ga. is going to need alot of help. I am glad that she has the moral support of her family and hopefully her boyfriend's family also. I hope she gets her life all sorted out. She will have to deal with what she put everyone through. May God Bless her also.
