Which newspaper inadvertently received some free advertising in today's 14-year review?

Yes, in 1998 the Mining Gazette got the front and center billing!

I share Becky's 1998 thoughts, where's the snow & ice? Getting all kinds of rain here.....

Good morning! First time I've been able to get on here since Sunday. We had no internet service yesterday morning and wasn't home last night.

Just want to say I LOVE Mickey's and Z-Man's pictures today!!

Soggy day here as well in SE-MI, temps in the mid-40s and no snow on the ground. If this keeps up, I may be riding the Wing on Xmas day :-)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 09:39 am:

Guess Deb is making up for her lost time not being here by posting twice!! ;-)

Don't laugh Alex; I remember one New Years Day poking around the rock piles at Cliff that morning because there was no snow and then watching the Rose Bowl later that afternoon. Sorry to say by the next weekend, there was 3 ft. of snow on the ground......

Yes, it looks like Christmas!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 10:20 am:

Hey Deb, I know a great remedy for 'hic-cups'.;D Speakin' of the Mining Gazette, I enjoyed reading the one that came with my pasties, even if it was from October!! Just kiddin', Charlie!

By Bob Williams (Wabbit) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 11:18 am:

I love the picture of St. Joe's with the snow coming down.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 01:46 pm:

Shirley, the Gazette is the packing material of choice here at Pasty Central. Every now and then we get notes from folks asking us not to wrinkle it so much, because they have to iron it out to read it :o)

We are shipping out a ton of pasties today, and still have shipping days next week before Christmas. The demand caught us by surprise this year. Sorry all pasties sold out so soon. A genuine Pasty Central Gift Certificate would be a nice alternative, allowing them to order at their convenience in the new year.

Love the what's up page. Zmans baking up cookie, that shot is good. The lighting of Copper Harbor is just beautiful. THanks for all of the good times here on Pasty.com.

Charlie...Congrats on the pasty sales! This may be an a new economic indicator.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 03:51 pm:

Charlie, mine wasn't wrinkled, looked like it just came off the presses and sure 'nuff, I enjoyed reading it....any time, any month, it's a connection to your great area UP there! And you can't beat newspapers for packing/shipping....better than bubble-wrap anyday!:)

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 04:26 pm:

Maybe I should order a Pasty subscription. :)

Went through all kinds of weather today. Ontonagon, rain, Bergland, snow, Wakefield, fog, Ironwood, lots of snow.

Like they say, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes or drive 15 miles.

Took Yooper Joe to the vet today in Ironwood, he had xrays of his bladder. Have to take the xrays to Bruce's tomorrow, Dr. Sturmer. Sure hope everything will be okay. That dog is what keeps us happy and alive.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - 04:34 pm:

bladder stones?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, December 15, 2011 - 06:55 am:

Good luck with Yooper Joe's vet visit tomorrow, Hollybranches. Sending positive thoughts to Yooper Joe & you.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, December 15, 2011 - 09:45 am:

Thank you Marianne.
