By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 09:12 am:

Good Morning. It's funny, we just had a big discussion on the subject of the highest point in Michigan, very recently!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 10:33 am:

Rainy and blah day here in Bethel, so I feel argumentative.....Charlie asked "where is" Michigan's highest point....not "what is". I'd be inclined to give a direction.;)

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 03:10 pm:

Thanks for the good pics. I realize it's not the last day of the month yet, but let's remember President Kennedy who was murdered 48 years ago today.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 04:10 pm:

I guess you split that hair, huh, Shirley.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 05:02 pm:

Even as a 7 year old brat, I remember the assassination 48 years ago of JFK. It was a Tuesday, I was in the 2nd grade, just came in from recess. School was dismissed, until the following Monday. I watched the televised funeral with my mom, and crying right along with her. But I thought the white horses and the black horse with the single boot in the stirrup were so beautiful!

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 05:09 pm:

Nice day today. Got to walk the beach, that's a first for this time of year.

Snow coming next week, can't wait.

I will never forget President JFK, still a mystery as to what happened. I think I know, do you?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 05:20 pm:

Yeah, I guess so, Mickill. If Charlie had've asked me that question this morning....I woulda said "Over yonder >>". Of course that's the way we southerners give directions!;D

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 05:55 pm:

Of course we all know. He was shot:)

And I so remember that horse with the boot, too Janie! It was such a sad experience for me. Then when Robert got shot I was just devastated! I kept wondering what the heck was wrong in this country. So darn sad!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 06:12 pm:

I always thought it was the mob Joe Kennedy Sr. was involved in.....just saying Last year on the Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Las Vegas, the authentic, numbered documented gray 1963 Pontiac ambulance that carried JFK's casket from the airport was auctioned. Creepy!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 07:00 pm:

I was 8 years old and all I can remember is my grandmother, who was over here visiting from Scotland, sitting on our sofa and crying as she watched the funeral. I remember her saying: "He was a good man."
...and she was not even American.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 07:40 pm:

My oh my do I remember November 22, 1963! My sixth baby was officially due on the 23rd. (She finally can Dec. 14) I was 25 years old. My oldest was in kindergarten. I had just made dinner as my husband was on second shift- they rotated shifts. But I'm thinking that was on a Friday? Such sad awful days that followed! We stayed glued to the tv for any news and to see how our govnerment smoothly went forward. Each image is impressed forever in my mind! The whole world changed from that day on!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 07:46 pm:

We had just moved into our new home and we had attached a flag holder on one of the front porch posts so we could fly Old Glory....after Kennedy was shot I took the flag down and basted a black lining around the whole flag. I was watching a popular soap opera from that time period, "As the World Turns", and Walter Cronkite came on with the announcement and he broke down several times. Very sad time. I'm a Republican now but a Democrat back then. Since some of you have given your ages then....I was 28.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 07:48 pm:

It was a Friday Kay. I googled it. It seemed to me it was a Tuesday, but it was the next Tuesday we had to be back in school.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 08:00 pm:

Very, very sad indeed. I think we are all feeling and remembering today. I also was a Democrat back then. I think the Republicans of today are more like the Democrats of that time period. Everything seems shifted to me. But at that time, it didn't matter what party you stood for. Everybody seemed to come together to mourn the loss of a very popular president. I still wonder what would have been had he lived......

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 08:08 pm:

Another thing I remember was that people were openly weeping, in stores, in church, everywhere, and talking in 'hushed' tones.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 08:14 pm:

I agree with you, Deb S., about the Reps!
G'night all...
