Good Morning! The Algoma Transfer entered the Portage from the North/Upper Entry, so we probably won't get to see it on Michigan Tech's webcams or going under the Lift Bridge. There's slight possibility that we might be able to see it turn around on Tech's View Cam, especially if it turns around. Thank you for posting the Live View of ships' positions, Charlie, and thanks for the heads up on its arrival, Danielle.

Mary says: Here's a shot of the Algoma on her way to deliver the salt, today. Danielle Adams snapped the photo and also reported that when she found the Algoma near High Point Road in Hancock, they were still coming in forward, but a short while later it turned around and backed the rest of the way in to the salt dock in Hancock, so unfortunately the Tech Cams wouldn't have captured that part of the journey.

What a beautifully formed pumpkin! Hey....I see Huck and Millie!:>

Charlie's live ship site is interesting. The Ranger is in the Portage, headed home, after several days on Isle Royale. It is a bit confusing, though, since the Algoma Transfer seems to have disappeared off the map for a while. I assume it is unloading in Hancock.

PS Meteorologists added the sl- word, mixed with rain, to our forecast for this afternoon, here in mid-Michigan. Oh goodie.

Good pics.

We must have the same weather "guy" UP here Marianne. So far have missed the "S" word. Temps have been perfect in Ontonagon, low 50s during the day and low 30s at night. My kind of weather.

If anyone is interested, Ontonagon has a webcam showing what the "Big Lake" is up to;

Click on Webcam and then Ontonagon, or whatever your choice might be.

At 4:40PM the Algoma Transfer was about 15 miles straight out of the North Entry, on her way to Thunder Bay at 12.5 kt. She's now about 20 miles out, doing 12.3 knots, and has just turned to a course of 35°.

Strangely, there seems to be no record of a stop anywhere in the Portage Canal.

Hey Charlie, your efforts are not in vain. I now have your link to Marinetraffic.com on my home and work computer. Looks like the Algoma Transfer is headed towards Canada as we speak.

FR Nash....they were here for about 3 hrs unloading and then 3 coming in and 1 to leave! I have the 306 pictures to prove it haha

Thank you, Mary, for posting Danielle's photo of the Algoma Transfer's entrance to the Portage, and thank you, Danielle, for taking it and for letting us know more about the Transfer's visit in the Portage! :-)
