When Michele Mukavetz wants to get away from it all here UP North, she heads to McLain Park. No matter what time of day, you'll always find beauty there to behold, but if you're there while dusk is settling in, you're definitely going to get a treat with the changing clouds. I really like that first shot, with someone walking their dog. Michele said she really hadn't noticed the person in the shot, until afterwards, when she got back home and was viewing them. It gives the photo a hint of mystery and lets the viewer put themselves in place of that silhouette, ending the day by walking along the shores of Gitche Gumee.

Sunsets are McLain are spectacular. The campers usually are lined up on the benches along the cliff-side watching the process. It's interesting watching the watchers. Sometimes I feel like applauding after the last glimpse of the golden orb "sinks" below the horizon.

McLain Park is a gem, and YES, it's a great place to walk the
dogs. We were there in June to introduce our two sheepdog
puppies to our favorite lake. They loved the park but not
the cold water! Maybe the most fun thing, though, was
seeing another sheepdog in the parking lot when we pulled
in!

Nice shots, for sure!!!

Outstanding photos this morning, Michele and Mary, I especially love the last one. It would be difficult to paint, with all those color variations. That's why God 'paints' better 'pictures' than we do.:-) Everyone have a safe and enjoyable day!

Personally, I prefer Calumet Waterworks over McLain; less people and better agate hunting to boot. But both are indeed spectacular places to view sunsets over the big lake.

A happy Labour Day to all!! J

Good photos. Finally got home to write this, as I did my 3rd annual Mackinac Bridge Walk.

Fantastic Photos, Vic and I were up on Lake Charlevoix all weekend at my sister Norma in Midland and my brother inlaw Charlie's, had a great time. Won't be in the U.P. next week as I thought, change of work plans.

Thomas, congrats on your bridge walk.

Deb S. Norma would like to talk to you on facebook, I told her contact u, I don't do facebook.

Congrats on the Bridge Walk, Tom!

What were conditions like this morning? A bit nippy?

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Monday, September 5, 2011 - 07:02 pm:

Yes, it was in the low 50's, I believe. Most everybody were wearing jackets.

What caught my eye about the last photo...is it looks like an eagle in the sunset.

We love Calumet Waterworks too, but it is a smaller place with, what seems like, more people. I took some beautiful sunset shots at Calumet Waterworks, too. (*_*) My moms family had a 'cottage' there at Calumet Waterworks when she was growing up.

Congrats on your bridge walk, Tom.

Good sleeping weather tonight.

UC, tell her to ask to be my friend. Or have her send me an e-mail.

Congrats,Thomas: Maybe I saw you while you were walking today.
My father and I crossed the bridge (in a car) this morning at about
8:45. What a wonderful sight it was to see so many people walking
the bridge. The last (and only) time I walked it was for the 40th
anniversary.

You have a very perceptive eye, Mickill. I see that now....beautiful!

When I took the picture I really did not see the eagle in the clouds til I had the pictures developed.
