There's talk all across the U.P. of folks getting out in the wilds and picking berries for jams, pies, desserts and freezing. But here on the Pasty Cam, we have evidence that it's time to get picking. Thanks to Laurie Bashaw, Brenda Leigh and Aimee Rathbun, respectively, we have what it takes to motivate you into grabbing your bucket and going in search of these luscious fruits of nature. Don't forget the bug spray just in case and be alert for signs of bears, as they enjoy the berries, too. And if you pick more than you need, let me know and I'll send my address for delivery! ;->

Good Morning! I love the berry pictures this morning. Unless I'm mistaken, though, I believe the berries in the second photo are blackberries, and the ones in the third photo are thimbleberries. It sounds like it's time for some delicious berry desserts, jams, breads, muffins, etc, for sure!

Mary says: Oops...my mistake, I forgot to change the names on the second and third photos when I copied them on the document. Thanks for pointing that out.

3 of my favorite fruits. Thank you.

Berry good pictures today!

3 of my favorite fruits also. But the thimbleberries I like best in jam. Can't believe those things are still producing this late. Usually it's just the blackberries that are going strong right about now. Must be due to the late start to summer.

Funny, Janie!!

I'm eating blueberries right now, as I do every day on my morning oatmeal! Delish!

YUM; Blueberries and blackberries and thimbleberries, oh my!!

We ate our fair share of each last month hiking around the Keweenaw. Who needs lunch when you have such wonderful treats provided by Mother Nature....

Love that blueberry pic! A favorite photo I have is of my Grandmother picking wild blueberries in the woods ... something I also enjoy doing ... as well as baking blueberry pies, later. Unfortunately, I am not usually in the UP during blueberry season.

I agree with Marianne, the middle berries look like blackberries to me....picked them down in Tenn. when I was a child and got eaten up by 'chiggers'! I think it's neat that blackberries are red when they're green.;->

So jealous. I'd love to be there picking and eating them now. I was
there for a week in early august and got some blueberries and
thimbleberries.
