A few weeks back, we featured some photos of the Tall Ships in Marquette Harbor and sailing right on board. How fun that Lisa Normand was up on the tip of the Keweenaw, when one of the Tall Ships made its way between Manitou Island and High Rock Bay. What a sight to see, with all the sails unfurled and working with the wind to move that ship right along in Lake Superior's waters. Being on the tip of the Keweenaw is magical in itself, but then to spot something that seems so "out of the past" sailing by you, has to be the highlight of the trip out there. It doesn't get much better than this.

Good Morning! They are supposed to finish putting on the new roof on our house today. I will really be glad when they get done, as will my furry friends, so we lose the pounding, etc. Hopefully, they can finish before it rains or storms today. :-)

Those tall ships are so impressive. I don't know if they're in my gallery or not, but we took pix of them last year in Duluth. So they couldn't get on pasty, but I'll have to check my gallery to see if they're there. What a sight it was to see them!!

Have a great day!!

I saw them in Duluth also a few years back. They are an awesome sight!

What beautiful pictures! We were at High Rock Point in June
and just loved the feeling of being at the very tip of
Michigan, jutting out into the Big Lake. The stop sign really
made us laugh. Boy, were we happy we had a Jeep--that
road is something. It was a fun, fun, fun day as we
introduced our road tripping puppies to Lake
Superior. (Pics in my gallery)

I had heard something about a new movie being filmed up there called "Pirates of the Keweenaw, Hills of Fortune", but I thought it was just a hoax; now I'm not so sure......

Pretty, pretty pictures! Now, do my old eyes deceive me or is that a man in the lower right corner in the last pic?

By Donna (Donna) on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 - 09:27 am:

GOOD EYES Shirley!

I have always loved watching sailing ships, or when I am lucky enough, sailing on them. To me, there is something amazing about harnessing the wind. And there's something thrilling about riding the waves. I've only been on a few short trips on the Great Lakes, but many on the North Atlantic. Just seeing a beautiful ship like that makes me want to stand on the deck, taste the wind, and feel the power of every passing crest and trough.

Great photos!

FANTASTIC PHOTOS, and Mary you are right, to see something like that ship when you're out there is a real treat!

Great pictures, Lisa. I never get tired of watching the wind in the sails.

Shirley: I think the wave actions of the Big Lake just polished a rock that looks like a bald man’s head.

Hey is that ship headed down this way? Anyone know? Would like to know ETA here on the St. Clair River so I can get close up pics!
Today I got pics of the "Philip R Clarke" and the "St. Clair" off Marine City!
