Joe Kirkish was in Calumet recently and couldn't help but notice the scene unfolding before his eyes as the sun was setting. It illuminated the sky beyond and made shadows of the well known buildings there...Range Bank, with the old fashioned lights lining the side and the unmistakable steeples of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, with the crosses standing out at the tops, just to name a few. I love how the colors in the sky go from fiery orange, to red, to pink, to purple, to blue and a number of deeper hues beyond that. This is one of those moments that you have to stop, lift your head and notice the beauty around you. Thanks for taking notice and sharing, Joe!

Thanks Joe for neat shots. Never been there at that time of the day. Sure is going to be a rough day here. Woke up to hearty thunder and lightning. Now raining to beat the band. If I didn't need to have a blood draw this morning you wouldn't catch me out this morning. So far no tornato activity near by. I too ask for prayers for our friends who are facing a difficult time as a grand family struggles with loosing their loved one. Peace be with them.

You can actually see those steeples way out on Cliff Drive up around Mohawk.

When we first moved to Calumet and I was just a kid, I would use those steeples to help me find my way home again, while out exploring. We lived just a couple blocks away from them and I knew if I could still see them, I couldn't get lost. I think of that every time I see a picture of them. A fond memory...

Very good shots, Joe!! I love the composition of the second shot, and love the colors in both of them. Thanks for the super shots of one of my favorite towns!

Would have been awesome photos had it not been for the power lines in the way, but still very very nice!! J

I am hoping to get a lot of shots this summer while we're up there myself, of course they will be mostly geologic and sunset shots from Waterworks....

I like the double church steeple in the background.

How very peaceful! I love small towns. My heart lies in small, quaint towns where everything is closed by 6:00 p.m. and most things are not open on Sunday.

Capt Paul ~
We always joke about getting out our 'line filters' in these situations!

But Joe did a great job under the circumstances and provided some great urban sunset shots! I'll take a gorgeous sunset anywhere! Thanks Joe!
