The lady Huskies sure made all of us Yoopers proud this past week, as they represented the U.P. and more precisely, the Copper Country, in the NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship. What a ride they took all the Tech fans on, starting with a terrific season, then with a quarterfinal win over Arkansas Tech and a semifinal win over NW Missouri State, to put them in the championship game against Clayton State. The girls put up a good fight and took the team and fans, further than any other Tech women's basketball team has taken them before. Saturday afternoon the team was welcomed home with a ceremony for the Huskies at the Student Development Center, where family, friends and fans alike, gathered to thank the lady Huskies for all their hard work. Like the cake in Bob Gilreath's top photo says, "Thanks for the Memories!"

I couldn't figure what the Pasty.com on the can was for in the third photo then I noticed the rabbit kissing the woman's cheek and it all came into focus.

Way to go Lady Huskies! We were up there at the MTU preview day and had a BLAST!

Richard - boy did it take me a while to figure out what you were talking about. I thought you were posting on the wrong page but I didn't see a rabbit on the review page either :-). Then it finally "came into focus" for me. Everyone have a nice day.

Got home at 1 am this morning (after a stop in Green Bay for some NCAA hockey playoffs). What a week. Thanks to everyone for all the support you gave the huskies this season! I'm tired, but its a good tired

I thought I saw you in the crowd there Bob at the NoDak/Denver game. Didn't see you at the basketball game on tv, but saw a lot of other familiar faces....

A bit of info. The announcer at the Lady Huskie game made a point to say that they had the highest GPA of any team. These Ladies are awesome. Each has an interesting history of their accomplishment ie not just basketball but for the future and where they plan to go and do. Thank you Huskies for a marvelous season.
The announcer did not have any info of this kind about the other team. Very classy team!!!!!

#2 in the nation on the court
#1 in the nation in the classroom,

NO other team can claim that!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, March 28, 2011 - 01:33 pm:

Congratulations, Lady Huskies! We are very proud of you, representing Michigan Tech, Copper Country, the UP, and Michigan! You are awesome ladies! :-)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, March 28, 2011 - 02:16 pm:

Let's not forget that none of the five starters this year started a game last year, and that Kim Cameron is a first year head coach; these two things alone made their run even more improbable.

What is funny is that I remember the first year Kim came to Tech as a freshman as I was her lab TA in geology. She was then and still is one of the nicest ladies you will ever meet, sharp as a tack, and apparently one heck of a coach!!!

By the looks of the fellow in the third photo, the game was jaw-dropping...nice shot.
