Amy Cloutier was recently at a Calumet Wolverines hockey game, being played at the Calumet Colosseum (formerly the Armory) and she captured some good shots of the action. This is a Senior "A" hockey club, which means it's for young men over 18, with the majority of them having played Calumet High School Hockey, so they have some experience playing on that ice. I like this club's mission statement: "The Calumet Wolverines Hockey Club is dedicated to promoting and growing the sport of hockey in and around the Calumet greater area by providing a fast-paced and exciting hockey club that is heavily involved in not just the hockey community, but the entire local community." You can read more about the club and their community involvement on their webpage: www.calumetwolverines.com. Nice to see our young men out there playing a sport they love, while also getting involved to better the communities they live in.

Love the Red Wings, but other than that, not too much into hockey. Though when my boys were younger, I loved watching their games. So darn cute!

Deb! Your boys would be "horrified". Hockey games are not cute! They are rough and tough!! LOL!!

A lot of history in Copper Country hockey. My uncle Chub was a big time player 100 years ago, I played some hockey at local rinks and at Northland College, my son played 2 years at Southern Cal in a low keyed hockey league. it is a tough game from practice, to travel to game time but many enjoyable hours can be had rinkside. More about CC hockey at the following site.

My brother in law Fred Sterk formerly from the CC now in Ispheming is in his late sixties & still plays hockey with his senior buddies. They travel all around playing games. It helps keep him fit he says. One of his senior friends 72 years old just hung up his skates. I don't see Fred doing that for awhile yet.

I'm amazed at the lack of people in the stands. I remember going to CLK Wolves hockey games back in the 60's and early 70's and it was standing room only at the Calumet Armory.

Lets not forget the CLK Radars.

"A kid on ice, is seldom in hot water"....

VERY true!
