We have several guest photographers today, including Donna MacIntosh, Frederic W. Koski (two photos) and Sandeep Fernandez, respectively. All three of these shutterbugs have clouds in common, as they all pointed their cameras to the U.P. skies. Starting with Donna's photo, brightened around the edges by the sun glowing behind them, you almost miss that there are several birds flying amidst the clouds, since your eyes are drawn to that shine all around them instead. Then Frederic snapped two different perspectives of cloud cover. One of darkened, storm clouds crowding the skies and the other of clouds colored by the setting sun and reflected yet again in quiet waters below.

Finally, there are the orange tinged clouds from Sandeep, which like Donna's top photo, also holds an almost hidden detail... an airplane flying just in front of the bank of clouds, making you wish you were sitting aboard for a closer view of the beautiful display. The storm clouds are neat, and here in eastern Iowa we have seen way too many of them and the heavy rainfall that came along. It is so nice we are seeing the white puffy type clouds and sunshine to dry up the flooding that is happening again this year.

'Bobbysgirl', ironic that you should mention Iowa 'cause when I saw the second photo it reminded me of seeing so many storm clouds like that as we travelled thru Iowa when going to and from N. Dakota. Even though Iowa is a beautiful state we almost got to where we dreaded crossing through there.;) Here's hoping you have a nice rest-of-the-summer!

Last week in Mackinaw City, I saw a single white cloud unlike anything I'd seen before. It was not a cumulus cloud, with the irregular bulges like in the top photo, and it wasn't a long thin cloud. Instead it was a smooth, fuzzy white cloud, looking like a big cottonball in the sky...like something a child would draw.

Shirley...before the first week this month was up we have received 4 3/4 in. of rain. June we had 4 sunny days out of the entire month. It's wonderful if you're a duck! lol!

no complaints from me. rain,snow,wet,dry,hot or cold. if its in the up its ok with me. from a hoosier who sees corn fields and pigs,no matter what the weather is. its hard to be misserabile when you live in paradise, or anywhere else in the up!!!!

I hear ya, Janie T., it's been about that bad down here in the Ohio Valley this Spring/Summer....it's a wonder we're not all rusted! And don't even get me started on the HUMIDITY!:< I think Gary from the Hoosier state will concur. I got an idea....let's everybody move UP north!:D
