We're sometimes in such a hurry every day, that we miss the little things of nature that are quite spectacular when you think about it. Like these photos today from Melanie Hakala Rossi (top photo) and Brenda Leigh (middle and bottom photos). Melanie gives us a glimpse of what looks like it should be impossible...pine tree sprouts in the midst of rocks, but obviously those pine cones that dropped there, must have had some powerful seeds that found their way to the soil below the rocks and sprouted up the beginnings of a pine tree there. Quite amazing! Then Brenda spotted another improbable planting on a visit to Escanaba's downtown. Right there in the holes of a water line cap, not one, but two weed seeds dropped into the holes and began their growth, just like they belong there. Brenda said that one of them is pineapple weed and a neat plant to make tea with, but she wasn't sure what the other one was. I'm thinking maybe clover.

And it's a good reminder on how we should all be...Grow where we are planted! Whether intentionally, or by accident!

Very cool! The older we get, the more we appreciate the beauty of nature! Why do we not really care much when we're younger, when there's so much to see and marvel at??

Shut off valve covers, man holes, these are things we walk over in our daily routine. Most of these items are made by Mueller Brass in Port Huron and EAST JORDAN IRON WORKS, near Charlevoix. We do still have a few good solid industries here in Michigan

Nature, aaahhhh....Nothing makes me happier than watching the
big, yellow bumblebees floating through the flowers I planted this
summer.

My new grass is growing like crazy. It is coming up through the straw. :O) My flowers are blooming, too.

Amen Eddyfitz!

In our travels we have seen the East Jordan Iron Works covers all over ~ always brings a smile to see them. We have friends who work there.

Now we'll have to keep an eye out for Mueller Brass too.

Mueller use to have a foundry here in Chattanooga but it closed some years ago. It was a big loss to the city. Nature is amazing! I just marvel over some of the things that sprout in the most unusal places.
