The name of a state other than Michigan briefly appears in today's slideshow. What state?

In regards to the picture of Sundew. Her new owner, Duluth/Superior businessman, Jeff Foster and a volunteer crew moved her out from behind the Irvin and into the LaFarge dock on Tuesday. She will be moved at a later time to the old Georgia Pacific dock in Superior, which I believe Jeff Foster owns. I heard a rumor that she will be involved in some way with the Tall Ship event in late July--not positive. Her new role is yet to be decided but she will play a role somehow in the port of Duluth/Superior. Nice to see her get a new lease on life. She was looking mighty fine on her little outing the other day.

Captain Russell Bergh of Jacobsville brought the SUNDEW out when it was brand new. If the Bergh girls read this they'll confirm that. Phyllis spoke at the decommisioning ceremonies. I got my very first piece of mail from his Mother. How's that for C.C. trivia?

The question of the day:
Q: The name of a state other than Michigan briefly appears in today's slideshow. What state?
A: Delaware

Well perhaps, unless that's a reference to Delaware, MI (On US-41, about ½ mile west of the Lac LaBelle Road turnoff)! Of course if so, it's still "the name of a state", eh? {smile}

Being the first of the Bergh girls, I remember the SUNDEW. Dad would tell me stories of the boats, only to find out later, not all was true. I can still hear Mom say, "Russ, don't sing those songs to the girls." Rowdy, do I know you?, I have wondered who you are for a long time. It was a great life and a great time. Nanc

Nanny: Did you know that your dad was also the first captain of the Ranger III when she was delivered from Sturgeon Bay to Houghton. He didn't work for the park service but for the company that was contracted by Christy Corporation to deliver her.
