Kelly Rintala White either has a good lens on her camera or she has a way with chipmunks. She's pretty close to this guy peeking out of what looks like a hole in a rusty old vehicle...maybe the gas tank? It sure is one of those "being in the right place at the right time" kind of photos.

The second photo from David Woon is a more typical critter shot. Capturing a squirrel as he stops to eyeball you, isn't by any means an easy shot either, since they'll usually continue on their journey downward or run around to the opposite side of the tree to hide from you in a matter of seconds. Both of these UP North photographers had to be quick on their shutter buttons in order to share them with us.

I hear that chipmunks get very good mileage.

When the squirrels venture into my yard to raid the bird feeder, my two Scottish Terriers give them a run for their lives.

I love squirrels but have much disdain for chipmunks! At least the squirrels stay mostly in trees, but chipmunks tunnel all over the yard just like moles. They've even tunneled under part of our driveway, causing a bit of collapse.:{

Shirley ... yeah, but squirrels can chew their way into your attic (and, worse, can gnaw on your electrical wires). They may be cute, but my love for them has taken a nose-dive since I started having first-hand problems with them.

I love the photos today,especially the peek-a-boo.Animals make the world such a brighter place. I am hoping the goose with the hurt leg is okay. [has been sitting on the Lake Linden football field at least since Monday]I called the DNR ,hoping they would take it to a rehab for critters place and I called the Humane Society when it sounded like the DNR might put it down.I want to think it is okay.:}

Donna...I admit I'm very stupid when it comes to computers. Ask anyone who knows me. But why can't the O'gan site have a simple box to check to vote. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but how can I vote when there's no "check box"!? Give me the simple life, just common sense. Could have voted every day but don't know where. SIMPLEFY!
