I wonder if this is why dogs are called "man's best friend"... because they'll patiently wait outside without complaining, while you do whatever it is you have to do inside. George Hoyem spotted this pooch, while he was guarding that bright red truck outside the Gay Bar. Maybe his owner brings him a juicy hamburger for his efforts. :->

Today's second photo was snapped over the weekend, by Judy Byykkonen as she drove by Lake Medora. The color still hadn't popped out much yet in Judy's photo, but in the next week or so, they should be changing all over the Keweenaw. Get out there and find yourself some color, even if the weather isn't the best!

Somehow he reminds me of my old Elementary School Principal.
Doggie

Thanks for the beautiful fall photo! I wish I was home right now to see the UP at its best.

A golden lab a great breed. My dog (a black lab), Lady, would sit and wait for us too.

Again, thanks for sharing.

That dog would make a great giant bobble-head.

By Linda Ledford (Linda) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 08:56 am:

What a beautiful, dignified dog! He looks like he's thinking about running through the woods or on the shore. You can't beat a dog for great companionship. They'll listen to you for hours and answer with their eyes.

I guess no one told him the dog days of summer are over....

By Rebecca Middlebrook (Mspuppers) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 09:15 am:

This truck, and dog, roams all over the Copper Country. I've seen him on more than one occasion at the Whitehouse Inn in Ahmeek. I've never met the owner, but the pup is very friendly and always up for a good scratch behind the ears.

Ol' Yeller looks like he's a bit sad that he could not go into The Gay Bar too.

By Amy Goulette (Amylakelinden) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 09:49 am:

I love the picture of the dog! It is now my desktop background. ;) Thanks for sharing the picture!

By John Robert (Mudlaker) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 09:49 am:

I'm guilty of leaving my Dog w/ the vehicle as well, but I will say He'd rather take a road trip w/ me than stay in the house.
And your right I try to bring him something back out for the wait!

By Dorothy Stewart (Bootjackbabe) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 10:06 am:

What a sweet face!!!! Looks like he is sitting on top of his dog house. love those doggies!!!!

By Uncle Chuck at Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 10:59 am:

I can't remember his name,(owner and dog) but I feed this dog milk bones when ever I go by the bar, he's a great dog and Rebecca is correct, he likes a quick rub down.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 01:02 pm:

Great Autumn pic, and the dog seems to like having his picture taken by the way he's looking at the camera.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 01:19 pm:

The dog looks like someone woke him up from a nap to take his picture. LOL

By Uncle Chuck at Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 01:47 pm:

Ted drives the Ford Ranger, Tige is the dog's name, both very nice person and dog, Marty, Mike and I will see them this deer season no doubt. Just make sure you have a treat for Tige when you stop by. I helped out Ted with a pair of crutches when he was hurtin, I knew their names would come to me sooner or later, lol Can't wait to live it U.P. again in Gay, Mary, thanks for the shot of Medora as well!

By Antonio Rodolfo Dias (Rodolfo) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 03:56 pm:

Thanks for the beautiful photo , God Blessing .

By Gary W. Long (Gary_in_co) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 04:51 pm:

I believe "Tige" was also the name of Buster Brown's dog. Anyone else old enough to remember that?

By Kristin Tober- Werner (Wjkblondie) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 07:19 pm:

Wow, I never thought my dad (Ted Tober) would make the Pasty Cam! This is Tige, she is a female Laborador Retriever and my dad's best friend. Where ever he goes, she goes. She is one spoiled dog. You can see Ted Tober and Tige traveling all over da Keweenaw in that little Ford Ranger. Occassionally you see me and my daughter crammed in the cab of the truck as well. We will be back at Eskimo Acres for deer camp on November 13th and I'm sure we will all be making appearances at the Gay Bar :)

By Kimberly J. Tober (Ktober) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 09:00 pm:

My Dad's dog Tige is one of the most well behaved, loving dogs. Not only does she like riding in the back of his truck, but also likes riding on the back of his 4-wheeler, trail grooomer, and a lot of heavy equipment!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 09:32 pm:

Mass City has a bar called Tige's Bar. I think it's still there anyway. I'm thinking the Tige in Tige's Bar was Tige Uotila.

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Friday, October 9, 2009 - 02:41 am:

Looks exactly like our female Golden Lab "Patty". We also have her sister "Pooky" a black Lab. They also go with us most everywhere. When we leave them home they pout! They absolutely loved the trip UP to and around the Keweenaw last summer! We didn't leave them out of the car though up at the Brockway summit! Didn't want the chance of them going over the side nosing around there!

By Bonnie Hartman (Bonniehartman) on Friday, October 9, 2009 - 08:37 pm:

I fed Tige quite a few treats this summer while heading in to the Gay Bar. Also had a few brews with Ted! I was raised in Gay, and lived two years on Lake Medora. Guess Pasty Cam was for me today! Now, I'm living in FL and it was 92 degrees today.
I'd like a bit of that Keweenaw color and cool weather.
