More good pics. I would have posted this a lot earlier, but I walked the Mackinac Bridge, today. My 1st time.

Good for you, Thomas! I did it once too. Truly memorable.

considering this site is called Pasty.com, I need to make a comment.
We stopped in Escanaba this afternoon and bought some pasties from
Dobbers. Talk about a disappointment. they've reduced the size and upped the price.
It was a good thing it was smaller, though...not a very good pasty. We had bought osme from Iron Mountain Dobbers back in May..they weren't bery good either. Somethings changed there. I won't go back. sorry

btw ... did the bridge walk this morning. What a great day for a walk across the Big Mac !!! It was perfect. Got a start with the first group at 7am. Made it across in 1 hour 35 minutes, which is fairly fast. The bus trip back was longer. Over an hour in line for the bus and an hour to cross the bridge...but every second was worth it :)

I loved hearing about those who walked the Mackinac Bridge today. My husband and I are already planning to make our first ever walk across next year. You don't get any younger or in my case no younger or less afraid of heights . I'm going to give my best shot. It is something I've wanted to do since the first time I saw the bridge in 1963.

Davesou,

You're absolutely right! The very best pasties in the south UP are now found at The Pasty Corner in Iron River. Try them the next time you're down this way.

I have a height thing too, Charlotte. Usually, even looking down from the second floor, I start getting vertigo, but the bridge didn't bother me at all. Part of it was probably the fact there were so many people. Everyone was in a great mood .. people in the buses were waving and cheering, there were people in costumes, people preaching, people thanking the National Guard guys for their service ... plus the fact we were walking over one of the longest bridges in the world..it was all good. didn't even think about height :) It was just a great feeling.
I'll try to put a couple of pictures up on todays what's up or in my gallery here.

David: if you didn't feel vertigo during the Bridge Walk, good 4 U. I didn't have it, unless I looked down through the steel grate on the inside lanes, so I simply walked on the pavement. While we're talking about the Bridge Walk, here's an article about it:
