Happy 50th Birthday David Murto!!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 - 11:51 am:

The construction on US 41 at MTU is to put in a raised median strip, that is supposed to make it safer for the students to cross US 41 from their dorms to the main campus. :-)

Marianne, are the getting rid of the broomball field? Looks like they've resurfaced that too.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 - 02:22 pm:

No, Uncle Chuck, they are moving the broomball fields, I think to the east end of the parking lot that is between DHH and US 41. Broomball will live on, no problems. :-) (I'm not sure what that big resurfaced area is, but I think it may not be quite big enough for the broomball courts, which is why they are moving the courts.)

Nice, especially the Sturgeon River pic. BTW, there's a Sturgeon River in Cheboygan County, and my great-grandfather, John Baird (1st head of the Michigan Conservation Dept., 1921-1927) has a farm along the river. He was also a delegate 2 the convention that wrote Michigan's 1908 Constitution.
