As soon as today's top photo from Joe Kirkish arrived in my Inbox, I recognized the spot as one he photographed back in February. The volleyball net was sitting in snow then and you could just barely see the logs that are lying underneath it. Same scene, different season. Joe said that this springtime version, was taken when he was driving by this past week. The winds were cold and quite high, blowing Lake Superior waves to shore. He only got out of his vehicle long enough to snap us a picture. So what do you think? Does the game look more inviting now?

The game definitely looks "more inviting" now!
Wonderful to see...thanks, Joe, for braving the cold to send us this photo. Wonderful to see the signs of a long winter no more. Amazing the net is still standing. :)

Is that Cat Harbor? "Population 3" ????

Is that still correct that Cat Harbor has 3 people? I know one person does NOT live there anymore and her house was for sale.

Mary, I like it any time of year!

I like that contrast from Winter to Spring, and the whitecaps in the Spring scene.

As Mary said on the PastyCam preview page:

We revisit a spot at Great Sand Bay that we featured before.

So, I guess it's not Cat Harbour..... ;-)

I *swear* I remember the Cat Harbor sign having a little "and a goat" rider on it years ago. Was I imagining that?

By Joe Kirkish (Joek) on Monday, May 18, 2009 - 06:53 pm:

Thank you, all of you who were asking about the location. The
place is Great Sand Bay, about 1 mile from Cat Harbor. I was up
there last week. When I passed the sign saying "Cat Harbor," I saw
nothing else written on it.

But I did learn one thing about the name: it was called "Cat Harbor"
because in the early days wild cats would come down from the hill
and drink there. (I used to think it was because of the shape of the
harbor, like a cat's head.)

Goat or no goat, I still wouldn't mind in the least bit to live up there.
