In case you're wondering, yes, we still have snow on the ground, especially in the woods and fields. I found some good examples of the condition of the snow in those locations this time of year, in Greta Jones' album. Her first shot is perfect to illustrate how the trees and brush absorb the heat from the sun and melt the snow around them, forming indents all around the base or trunk. I like the shadows, too. Greta's second photo could have been taken right across the road from our farm. One nice thing about the snow in the woods... it stays clean, just about until it's all melted and gone, unlike the stuff along the highways and roads. The last shot is from Bumbletown Hill, one of the best spots to get a good view of the land without having to hike to get there.

We got some snow, but, it will probably melt off. It started last night.

My sisters, who live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, said they had to shovel 8" of the heavy wet stuff yesterday. I'm glad it missed us here in Mid-Michigan. It snowed a little in the afternoon, and there's still some on the ground, but the temps are going to be in the 40s today, so it won't last. Winter be gone already!!

From that very spot on Bumbletown Hill, on a nice clear day, one can see Isle Royale among other wonderful sights....

Love the view from Bumbletown hill! I was sad to see last summer that the old paths that I know (past the rock piles) have all been gated off. Is there any way to get that view without causing anyone worry about private property?

(Side note: anyone looking for a workout plan should try the "sprint across several major airports" plan. You should see my calf muscles! :P)

Does anybody know if South Boundary Rd. in Porcupine Mountains State Park is open yet? If not, when is a "best guess?"

94 more days 'til I'm home. Sigh...

Great pics. We had a blast of Winter return 2 Northern Lower Michigan Saturday night and Sunday.
