Until further notice there will be no entering the town of Ontonagon - by water, that is. Thanks to E. Neil Harri, our Pasty Cam "Eye in the Sky", we're getting a look at both the river entry and the town while they're still iced in. If the warming trend continues everything will be opening up around there before too long. But, Neil snapped these photos with the shroud of ice and snow, making things really stand out, like the bridges, the buildings, even the breakwall seems to pop out at you, when covered in white against the shining ice. I think my favorite spot in the second photo is the marina, since the ice around the docks look slick enough for ice skating! Don't try it though, ice is unstable, especially this time of year!

If you haven't yet checked out Neil and Susan Harri's webpage, NeilHarriPhotos.com, now would be a good time. They have a myriad of items, something for just about everyone's tastes. From Aerial photos and Aerial Tour DVD's to ground level photos, notecards and photo CD's of your U.P. home or property, to quilts, dishcloths, mittens and more. To head on over just click HERE. Easter is just around the corner!

I wonder how high the Ontonagon River has been the last few days with the high temps and melting snow? A couple years ago i remember seeing pictures of the huge flooding that occurred upstream near Ewen. Anyone know?

The second photo looks like a painting.

Very cool pictures this morning!

Look at that ice piling up, that is what I think is cool to see. Saw it in the Keweenaw Bay last year about this time.

Can anyone update us on what's come of the downtown area after the big fire last year? Always liked this town after my folks had lived in White Pine around 1980. Maybe I'll be able to see for myself next fall.

The burned out buildings are sitting under the snow waiting for the Village to find aide of some form to remove them. Camp One across the street on the corner of River and Houghton Streets is being slowly dismantled! At least they are still not burning. Ken Raisanen - WOAS-FM

Should also point out that the burned out buildings are on the right side of the second photo. About mid-way down, there is a tan colored building- that is the Hegg Plummery building and the burned ones are the next lots toward Lake Superior ending at the former From the Heart building currently being used as office space. ker @ woas-fm

Still looks Wintry there. Spring's on the way, though, as snow is melting here in Northern Lower Michigan.

Maybe I can stop by and see the game tomorrow night in East Lansing. That would be cool. I remember the first year Ontonagon had a girls team they won the state championship. I think that was 1975?? Go Gladiators!!
