These are photos of the Swedetown Creek, taken by Susan Hooker, when she was on the ski trails. Right now, you might be thinking this creek is located in Calumet, like I was at first, but come to find out, this creek is at the Maasto Hiihto Ski Trails in Hancock. Sure is a beautiful scene and encouraging to see the open water running like that. Maybe Spring is just around the corner after all. :->

Spring looks quite a ways off, if you look at the Bridge Cam this morning (restored to service after a brief vacation):

A special welcome to all tuning into the Pasty Cam this morning by way of WOOD Radio in Grand Rapids, and our thanks to John Bry for sending his listeners for a 'Glimpse of life in the U.P.'

Nice photos, Susan. :) Things are definitely back to winter here -- first time I've had to do any real shoveling in quite a while! Thank goodness for snowplows, or else I'd have nothing to do at 7 am...

Beautiful pictures.

What beautiful pictures of winter. Here in northern Indiana a couple of days ago I saw two Robins in our yard. They are getting closer to you. Spring can't be far away. Last night a cold front went through and it is cold today. Really enjoy the pasty cam. Not from the north country but enjoy visiting the UP. Everyone have a good day.

Yes it is gorgeous down these! :-) On Sunday the club the grooms and maintains this trail (KNSC) is having a Glide-N-Gorge benefit or “eat and ski” down this Swedetown gorge. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Down Wind sports, Cross Country sports or Dave’s BP in Hancock. Or in the Chalet for $20 on Sunday which is located at the fairgrounds in Hancock. This is a fund raiser to help with equipment and supplies for these trails. We'll be severing for 12 to 3 that afternoon. Hope we see you there!

Looks like the cold you’re experiencing, is even spreading as far south as Florida. This weekend the forecasters are saying Sunday we may see some SNOW FLURRIES in Tallahassee! Coldest winter I have seen since moving here in 1997.

But today will be extremely nice in the mid 70ºs. ( had to put that in there.) I didn’t see one Robin on his way north this past month. Usually I see them everywhere sometime in February. But if they are being sighted in Indiana, they must have bypassed Florida all together.

Hi Theresa! Our daughter and son in law in Z'Hills had about 15 robins in their yard about a week ago! Haven't saw any here in Mid Michigan yet. It was 48° here at 6:00 this morning. It has dropped to 30° with snow flurries now!

Those are awesome pics today -- and by looking at the Bridge Cam, it looks like it's a beautiful, sunny day in the Keewenaw. I'd love to be up north and out in the woods on snowshoes! Unfortunately, I sit down here in the Detroit area, looking out the window at work at gray and cold -- yech!

Just wanted to give people a little contrast -- I go back and forth looking at the pasty cams and www.twopalms.com which is a live time cam of the beach at Cape Canaveral. It never hurts to daydream.................

I like the snow mushrooms. Didn't like the new blown snow as much I prefer it in pictures not my driveway. Lots of snowmobile trailers at the Ramada.

Very cool pictures, thank you for sharing!

While I haven't actually "seen" robins yet here in mid-Michigan, I think I have been hearing them for the past couple of days, unless I'm imagining things, lol! Seriously, last year, when robins started building a nest on the corner of our roof last year, they made the same sounds that I have been hearing for the last few days on our roof, again this week. If it is not robins walking around on the roof, it is another kind of bird who picked the same spot the robins had last year!

I did smell a skunk outside Mason last week.

Beautiful pics! Winter can have such beauty.

There's a creek in Ontonagon County's McMillan Township named Maple Leaf Creek. Anybody from the Keweenaw visited it this time of year? Perhaps the above pics are as good as Winter scenes at Maple Leaf Creek.

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Friday, February 27, 2009 - 11:47 pm:

Theresa: Many Robins winter in Florida. Recent years Robins are reported more & more overwintering in northern states. We see them often down here in Trolland during the winter.
Marianne: They may be Robins! If not they could be Starlings which are excellent mimics of many bird species.
BTW>>> Hummingbirds are in Lousiana and Texas as of today. Purple Martins have made it up as far as Tennesse and Kentucky!
We have 2" high tulips on the south side of our house today! It's happening! hooray!

What beautiful and peaceful pictures snowy creeks in winter make. I love both of those photos. Thanks for sharing.
