Still have Windows 7 mickill. Wish I could respond.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, November 24, 2012 - 10:36 am:

We have Windows 7 also, mickill. I don't even like that. We had Vista and I liked that one.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Saturday, November 24, 2012 - 06:20 pm:

Thanks for responding. ;O). My desk top has windows vista-home premium and I am glad the computer guy said it could not be up-graded to windows 7 or 8. I love my vista.

I was playing with one of the computers at wal mart today with window 8....tricky, tricky. I will probably get the hang of it...but I am keeping my desk top. ;O)

Yep, I am sick that my hubby installed that new program. I had just gotten used to Vista and it's sooooooo different. I don't have the patience to sit here and try to figure it out when I work 8 hours a day. But that's me. Maybe you'd like it!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, November 25, 2012 - 09:45 am:

Deb....there is ALWAYS time to sit back, take a deep breath or two, and take some time. some time for anything.;O)

I hope I will like it.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, November 25, 2012 - 11:38 am:

LOL, Mickill. So true. That's what Ron tells me. But our internet provider around here doesn't help a whole lot. You'll just be in the middle of something and it goes out. So many people complaining about it, but they're the only provider around so we're stuck with them. Some day I'll do just that, though. Just not while I'm busy with the holidays. Good luck.

the new lap top is still in the box. i have to get a router for it.

i have been googling certain questions on how to operate it and some you-tube videos have been coming up about the question good insructions. ;O)

Mickill... Over the summer, I used the windows 8
customer preview and I hated it. It seems to geared
towards the touch screen because of the "tile" setup.
Another reason I didn't lkme it was Microsoft did away
with the start menu. That makes it very difficult to find
anything like your control panel, etc. My husband is a
computer whiz and hated it also. I ended up reinstalling
Vista and am happy again. Hope this helps.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, December 6, 2012 - 08:19 pm:

CINDY; Thank You for what you said. I still have my desktop which is windows vista and I love that. I told my sweetie that when I do decide to try it, I am going to completely disconnect my desk-top so I do not accidently transfer something to it. LOL...LOL... I told him I was not joking.

I also heard about not being able to find things like your control panel, etc.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, December 6, 2012 - 08:22 pm:

BUT, for what I use a computer for...maybe windows 8 will be O.K. I do not play any games or anything like that. I will just have to give it a try....what the heck, I could always sell it. ;O)

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, December 6, 2012 - 08:34 pm:

CINDY; Try googling what you would like to do with windows 8, like how to find the control panel and things like that. That is what I have been doing. I think, some of them have to be put in as apps. Some of the symbols seem to be hidden to the right of the picture squares, as I call them.

I love to google.

I think the change was much too drastic. Honestly, I miss
Windows XP.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:04 pm:

Me too!!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:45 pm:

never had xp...always had windows vista on mine.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 09:58 pm:

We had XP before we switched to Vista. Liked XP better. Now I liked Vista better than what we have now. Why can't they just leave well enough alone?

By Cindy Barga (Hoosiergirl) on Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 08:07 am:

our first computer had XP, so that is what I learned on. I
loved it. When that computer crashed, we ordered a new
one and it had Vista. Vista was a little different, but not
hard to learn or get used to. This summer while our son
was home from college, he wanted to try the free
customer preview of Windows 8. I agreed. Boy, that was a
mistake. I am really just an internet surfer, and like to use
iTunes for my ipod, and for my picture library. With
Windows 8 to access any of the apps, you have to open
an account with Microsoft, which I didn't want to do...but
had to anyway. Anywho, long story short...I think
Microsoft dropped the ball on this one. If you have a
touchscreen o r a tablet you maybe like Windows 8,

but if you are a mouse user, you probably won't like it.
The changes are just too drastic.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 08:11 am:

Yep, I just got used to Vista, and then Ron changed to Windows 7. Don't know why, but everything's different and it's really maddening. I will NOT upgrade to 8. I've heard too many horror stories!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 06:19 pm:

well...windows 8 computer is going back to the store. the more i read and listen to other people, i do not want it.

thank you, one and all for the input..

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 04:40 pm:

Good move!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, December 10, 2012 - 03:08 pm:

I think I am going to take it back. I can use a new camera more. One with more megapixals and zoom. My desktop is still working pretty good for what I use a computer for.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 07:26 pm:

the laptop went back to the store. my desktop is still fine and i am not one to carry a laptop with me everywhere i go.

i can use a better digital camera more.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Friday, December 14, 2012 - 07:16 am:
